Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum was announced to be in development on May 9, 2024 with a planned release in 2026. The script is being developed by Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens and set to be directed by and star Andy Serkis.

I’m a huge fucking Tolkien nerd and generally receptive to new adaptations but I don’t really think this part of the story needs fleshing out even if they have the Gandalf taking out Dol Guldur storyline in there too. Give us Beren and Luthién ffs

I think stuff from the Silmarillion is off limits still? Which explains why all these spinoff are going for random shit.

I think the stipulation was no First Age, and anything new cannot impact the story of the Lord Of The Rings.
