Idk how there could be more. There must be thousands of AI slop channels making shorts. So given the amount won't change, at least the quality will improve.

It will be 99,99999999% in a short while, since they can be cranked out at a pace no human content creator can match. So we are not quite there yet.

I blocked Shorts from my feed as soon as they started showing up.

[-] PolarKraken@programming.dev 2 points 4 weeks ago

Did not even realize you could do this. Then again I'm now realizing I don't even remember the last time I went there to browse anyway, so maybe I'm cured 🤷‍♂️

Are people still using YouTube? Each day it’s more problems, more ads, more bullshit. It’s time to move on.

To what? Tiktok? Youtube imo is the best platform still.

I applaud and encourage everyone to move on to real life, but otherwise youtube is probably still your best bet

I blocked all Google-owned domains quite some time ago. I never really understood the draw to YouTube.

That's great, but you aren't "normal"

[-] Pipster@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 month ago

Works ok with revanced. Unfortunately a lot of content there just isnt yet available elsewhere.

[-] FizzyOrange@programming.dev 7 points 1 month ago

To what? They don't really have any serious competition.

Almost every good content creator is only on YouTube.

When I need to know something it’s easier to just search and quickly read through stuff rather than sitting through some long-winded, sponsored rambling.

[-] FizzyOrange@programming.dev 1 points 4 weeks ago

There are plenty of videos that aren't long-winded and rambling. Look up Applied Science for example. Good luck finding that content anywhere else.

You can setup uBlock to completely remove shorts, then you don't get either.

Yes, though in that case you need bit of a broader approach.

!death to #shorts
www.youtube.com##:matches-path(/)a#thumbnail[href*="/shorts"]:upward(7)
www.youtube.com##:matches-path(/)a#endpoint[title*="Shorts"]

funny, I clicked the eye dropper, found the tiny magic spot that highlighted the entire shorts section (the word and the videos), then clicked that, no shorts listed, except in my bell from my friends. Now I'd like to block the other AI crap (full vids) without having to view it, I use the similar looking AI thumb and just don't click it
