The previous two games were published without paradox just fine. The community (and I for that matter) are worried what this deal might bring. Not really keen on a "1910s grain train pack" DLCs or anything else paradox is famous for.

I hate paradox with a passion. They hollow out the game and sell it back to you at 10x price. My favourite example is Stellaris. There is this Covert Ops mechanic where players can steal resources from each other. Naturally, the NPCs can also use it against the player. If you didn't buy the DLC that includes the full covert ops mechanic, the NPCs will steal resources from you, but you can't defend yourself against that because the defence action is only included in the DLC, NOT THE BASE GAME. And this basically means that your economy will fluctuate violently with massive resource losses that you can't do anything against, no matter how perfectly you play. And in a simulation game where the economy is basically the number one core aspect, this is unacceptable. They know this, this problem exists since many years, and they willingly choose to look away.

I love Paradox. Every game they do well is basically just Autism: The Video Game. I like trains too so that's fine.

They’ve got a great selection of games, but their DLC policy is terrible
