Except the "create new jobs" are usually

Jobs at another company (probably, not my (the CEO's) problem anymore)

Jobs that pay 1/4th as much

Jobs that are labor intense that older people can't do.

Etc etc.

If youse knows whats good for youse, capiche?

said HSBC staff needed to ensure they were "not fighting us, not disenfranchised, not anxious, overwhelmed, and resisting the change."

-> "you should smile more".

I tried to search the company name HSBC to figure out what the fuck that is to see if I should care and I honestly couldn't figure it out.

EDIT: How does a private international bank even use AI in the first place?

Is this some sort of post-modernist I'm too cool because I'll pretend I'm dumb thing ?

The bank HSBC is literally the first item to come up on both google and duckduckgo on a search for "HSBC" similarly it's whats listed if you type it into wikipedia.

It seems awfully improbable that you actually did a search on a search engine and failed to come up with an answer.

Do I think HSBC and its CEO are someone you should care about ? Hell no. But a 5 year old could manage to successfully search the term.

I'm a millennial. And I've already got the boomer mentality with young adults. I'm not sure if it's my experience or whatever but some of these kids skill or will is just dead and replaced with whatever truth they choose to believe.

In fairness the boomers are the leading proponents of it, so you can't blame kids for following role models (assuming OP is a kid is a bit of a leap tbh). Anyway, yes, lack of skill or will is frustrating.

I shared my experience and a user better than you in every aspect helpfully explained the context I was searching for. It's this "basic communication" thing that non-antisocial living beings use to increase survival odds. Do you need me to explain more than that?

Do you need me to explain more than that?

Yes, actually, can you explain how you were unable to successfully perform a search of such basic level that a child could do it ? Something that you clearly STATED you had done. Did you ACTUALLY type those 4 letters into a search engine ?

Or were you perhaps too lazy to actually do so ?

The explanation I'd most like to hear though is why you think pretending to be incompetent is a good thing rather than embarrassing ?

Rhetorical Question, Farley.

You get tons of search results for HSBC but none of mine were about a bank.

You get tons of search results for HSBC but none of mine were about a bank.

Really ? And what search engine were you using, because at a quick test via vpn google in USA, UK, NL, MX, and AU all came up with it as the first option.

Or you could you know type hsbc.com into your browser and immediately work it out from the big "online banking" link in the right corner.

To put it another way, I don't believe you.

Professional money launderers for the Cartel. Obscene amounts of money laundering.

You could just read the article because it explains what it is

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSBC

"3rd largest non-state owned bank in the world"

"HSBC has offices, branches and subsidiaries in 57 countries and territories across Africa, Asia, Oceania, Europe, North America, and South America, serving around 39 million customers"

It may be theoretically British but it's not one of the biggest banks here and the majority of its activity is overseas (except for the money laundering).

(no I'm not a customer, shareholder or employee)

[-] vrek@programming.dev 4 points 4 days ago

Wow, larger than expected and shows I should do more than a 30 skim of search results. I just saw bank and headquarter in London.

See other response, they are bigger than I thought

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 0 points 4 days ago

Nah, that user's kind of a dick.

[-] vrek@programming.dev 1 points 3 days ago

Yeah... I just read his other responses in this topic, originally I only read the one he replied to me with which he seemed decent. His other messages here are just toxic and I agree with your assessment.
