Power button? Reset button? PSU switch? Clear CMOS button?

Let's try and press them all!

[-] 30p87@feddit.org 28 points 5 days ago

LUKS header disk emergency destroy button? *boop!

[-] username_1@programming.dev 16 points 5 days ago

In case of the need to press a button but you don't know which exactly, press the belly button.

[-] Redjard@reddthat.com 13 points 5 days ago

*rings doorbell*

[-] cRazi_man@europe.pub 13 points 5 days ago

I pressed the button next to the power socket on the wall.

I pressed my jacket button.

[-] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 70 points 5 days ago

That's why there's a distinction between buttons and keys

[-] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 32 points 5 days ago

That's just shit design. Even on keyboards with Power button I've seen, they're usually distinctly shaped and coloured.

[-] Gerblat@lemmy.world 54 points 5 days ago

“Oh, I’ll need this info later, I better take a screenshot”

fatfingers the power button

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 7 points 5 days ago

Me trying to press F12 in the dark

[-] jaybone@lemmy.zip 28 points 5 days ago

Yeah I love these fuckin laptops that put the power button somewhere random in the middle of the keyboard where you might accidentally press.

I can’t imagine what goes through the mind of the genius who came up with this shit. Im guessing it was some guy who worked his way up to middle management in a Chinese manufacturing sweatshop, and then managed to sell clients on the idea that they could cut costs because he knew a quick hack to run the wires to the power supply.

[-] jlow@slrpnk.net 8 points 5 days ago

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen such a tiny backspace key.

[-] UnrepentantAlgebra@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

More like a back-no-space key

[-] youcantreadthis@quokk.au 11 points 5 days ago

Just pressed my car key its very loud

[-] MrSelfDestruct@lemmy.zip 45 points 5 days ago
[-] perishthethought@piefed.social 7 points 5 days ago

Oooh, I think I'll order a Tab.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 31 points 5 days ago

Me: presses button on shirt

[-] palordrolap@fedia.io 32 points 5 days ago

The late comic strip User Friendly did this best back in the day. To the point that its take on it is currently the example on its Wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Friendly

[-] fraksken@infosec.pub 1 points 3 days ago

I like the comic. Made me lol. The site is down and the domain unavailable. Where can I get he 13 years worth of comics?

[-] palordrolap@fedia.io 2 points 3 days ago

The Internet Archive has a 184MB .cbz file that allegedly contains them all here: https://archive.org/download/user-friendly-comic. Likewise, much of the site itself is archived there.

Be aware that they're not all going to be winners like the A-N-Y strip is.

[-] fraksken@infosec.pub 1 points 3 days ago

🥰 thanks

[-] KindnessIsPunk@lemmy.ca 20 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Now he's just pushing the IT guy's buttons

[-] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 19 points 5 days ago

How about the Turbo button?

[-] jaybone@lemmy.zip 6 points 5 days ago

Is this 1992? Where’s my dinosaur? Will someone go to prom with me?

[-] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 days ago

Just rollerblade over to my house, we'll play some Super Nintendo and drink Mello Yello.

[-] bisby@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Remember ALF? He's back. In pog form.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

I pressed the turbo button

[-] hateisreality@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

I'm convinced that button did nothing

[-] flying_sheep@lemmy.ml 7 points 4 days ago

It did. You used it to make your CPU slower for old timing-dependent games

[-] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago
[-] flying_sheep@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 days ago

Yeah, they probably inverted it because it's weird to market a “slow” button

[-] psud@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago

My 386 had turbo on practically all the time except when playing earlier era games where half speed made them playable

It really was an unturbo button

Never seen it but Monster House it seems.

[-] borth@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 days ago

Yess! Thank you!

[-] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 8 points 5 days ago
