I described to a coworker how theres a memo from the undersecretary of inter American affairs from the 1950s where they basically say "Castro is too popular, we're going to try to starve the entire country so that people hate him and overthrow the government" and i showed it to him (on the u.s. government's own website) and literally moments later he told me "castro starved his own people"
People will hop through any loops to continue believing what they do.
This would make me cartoonishly mad. Like my skin turning incrementally red like a rising thermometer, smoke whistling out of my ears like an old steam whistle, banging my head with a wooden mallet while simultaneously pulling my beard while stars fly out of my head, transforming into a missile and blasting off through the roof only to explode into a firework that spell out the phrase "Stalin shouldn't have stopped at Berlin" in the sky, yelling "Yaaaah-ha-ha-ha-whooy!" as I fall to the earth, leaving a me shaped hole in the ground that I promptly cover up with my rubber hose arms and hands that extend out of ground, while a tombstone springs up at the head of my grave with a loud ka-ching cash register sound, while taps plays, levels of mad.

Westerners aren’t helpless innocents whose minds are injected with atrocity propaganda, science fiction-style; they’re generally smug bourgeois proletarians who intelligently seek out as much racist propaganda as they can get their hands on. This is because it fundamentally makes them feel better about who they are and how they live. The psychic and material costs are rationally worth the benefits. As for those anti-imperialists who don’t participate in this festival of xenophobia — and here I include myself — we have our own elitist consolation: we accept the tragedy of masses of gullible sheeple falling for cunning propaganda because having overcome it flatters our own intelligence. The more we condemn society’s stupidity, the smarter we feel in comparison.
