damn china is the future

Will these trees not outgrow the small cubicals they are in?

No. This concept was first used in Italy over 40 years ago. They choose the appropriate trees.

Some trees only grow a few feet tall. I remember when I was a kid, my mother planted a few such small trees when we moved into a house with a yard.

Depends on what they are.

[-] livligkinkajou@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 day ago

You can always prune them back too

Just imagining some high stress branch training and you got branches dangling 10 stories

@PugJesus
I think "forest" is a bit of a reach.

Seems like proof of concept, where they'd want. A cluster of these on a block to add green to horizon. Not sure how well they'd grow, particularly on the lower floors, if neighboring buildings are blocking sunlight. And add grow lamps would be a huge energy hog.

From the article it appears that most of the buildings will be more terraced, which would make sense.

They build something like that in Copenhagen in 2008, though it's just 11 stories tall.

It's situated in between other tall buildings.

I wonder what the floor plan looks like.

lmao, funny enough, after someone insisted on finding the address, I actually came across some floor plans in the process.

You sure? It seems legitimate, as seen by the link and the architect's own page, and it seems to be similar to the architect's other projects
