Yeah that doesnt change the fact that they are depressing as hell and many states in eastern europe are still using them even tho they were more of a temporary fix. With modern materiald and production states could make similar modular housing but with much more variety, colour and in higher quality solving most of the problems with current commie blocks. But of course that would make a lot of rich people angry so thats not happening.

they prefer Homelessness because they are already trained not to see it

Only in .ml is the word liberals good enough to be a punchline.

I've always been a fan of brutalist architecture due to its prevalence in sci-fi, but even if I wasn't, I would rather have a shitty little shack to live in than to face the Russian winters without shelter.

Yeah, I love the Forerunner architecture in Halo and Subnautica

Every time I see videos of those blocks, they look like some of the most depressing places to live. Although I guess that could just be the typical Russian ambiance.

I'm sure they are depressing in some ways. I'm also sure they're better than being on the street.

Liberal democracies in other parts of destroyed europe also built lots of housing, with decent quality, in the same time period. But they didnt fix homelessness because they didnt want to, even if they actually could and should have.

I dont think they mass production and build quality (non soviet, europe housing from the same era is pretty similar in quality and also looks kinda cool) is really the important point here, its the underlaying ideolocal difference.

This might a good place to share a video how cool soviet era housing can be.
