It's always best to fire your top general just before going to war. He must have learned that from Stalin and Putin.

Well, Russian generals got too cocky recently, so Putin sent them into a meat grinder. Now there are no generals and Putin and his oligarchs have earned even more money. Win win!

You kid, but I think he actually did.

the general made the mistake of pointing out that going to war would be stupid. of course he had to go. Nobody calls Kim stupid.

They're just girding though. Got loads of time to gird.

They must have run out of food and attention again.

No they just use it to produce more arms that they can then export to Russia.

Fired... More like fired by an execution squad, or an AA gun

My biggest concern here is that Kim Jong-Un has been holding off on war until he had ICBMs, which it's now the case, and they can reach any target in the US.

[-] mea_rah@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

How many do they have and what would be the plan after they fired all 15?

Lose the war and become somebody else's problem.

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 3 points 1 year ago

I really think they can pull that one off.

Does NK even have enough intel to reliably target critical infrastructure?

[-] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

It wouldn't surprise me if a Russian diplomat accidentally dropped a folder filled with the targets they'd go for if they were in a position where they had to nuke some targets.

I'd trust that the US's missile defenses could pretty easily stop North Korea's entire arsenal. They're not getting anywhere else China/Russia/whoever also launched a strike, at which point we're all fucked anyway.

Nuclear war is bad for business, I really, really doubt China's interested in starting one on NK's whim

[-] occhionaut@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

When the CCP pops the tombstone out in half a decade to join Putin's failed USSR 2.0, they'll be leaving little ol' Un in his land island all alone and orphaned of big bullies to ally with. Thats when shit is gonna get fucky. NK doesn't do business.

This is how I imagine China and North Korea in international relations.

[-] HamSwagwich@showeq.com 4 points 1 year ago

No they can't. They can maybe, if the wind is just right and luck is with them, reach the West Coast Hawaii is questionable as well.

It seems that Kim Jung Un's most recent solid fuel ICBMs have benefited from Russian help. It also explains the increased range.

"Kim's biggest weapons were saved for the end, when his troops rolled out new ICBMs that were flight-tested in recent months and demonstrated ranges that could reach deep into the U.S. mainland, the Hwasong-17 and Hwasong-18. Some analysts say the missiles are based on Russian designs or know-how."

Kim Jong Un wants no criticism of him.
