There's that one person born and raised in Vatican City who's just been waiting their whole life for this one moment.

Job positions for people from Vatican City rarely pay the full amount in standard currencies.

Once you factor in the little boy buttholes, the overall comp package for Vatican employees looks much better overall (to the Vatican employees, to be clear)

Yeah...it's an entrenched organization that protects and nurtures sexual offenders as a matter of policy. And they have essentially unlimited wealth and capital resources at their disposal. It's pretty fucked

[-] bane_killgrind@lemmy.ml 2 points 6 months ago

Oh I know, I'm just wondering how the IRS would tax that... Some percentage? Are there even any expats working in the Vatican?

I should apply and tell them I'm a Latin American

Someone once told me their grandparents in Brazil were part of a community where Latin was spoken as the primary language, but I can't find any information about it online in English.

[-] RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 6 months ago

I can sense a Latina joke in there...

[-] collapse_already@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 months ago

I am reminded of Dan Quayle's "I took Latin in high school." Offered as proof that he could relate to the Latino community.

[-] Cqrd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 6 months ago

A lot of Catholics in Brazil and old Catholicism required the use of Latin during mass, so it's totally plausible.

looking for a junior programmer. must have first-hand arpanet experience.

Maybe it's part of an elaborate vampire hunting scheme. It seems like something idiot PCs would do in a role playing game, and the protagonists of "What We Do In the Shadows" would fall for.

Technically there are many people who speak Latin natively, it is just that it is very late (too late?) Latin.

Haensulus Graetulaque ante portas stat.

"Cnuspa, cnuspa Wasa. Qui cnuspat mea casa?"

"Ave, Hexa. Morituri te salutant."

I can't seem to find it, but I think it was James Gosling, where he was blocked from reviewing code at Google because he hadn't gone through the company's approval process. I hope this wasn't a myth I've been carrying on for this long.

What's wrong with 10 years swiftui experience? Is it because it hasn't been around for 10 years?

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 7 points 6 months ago

unless it's been a decade since 2019 :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SwiftUI

[-] refalo@programming.dev 3 points 6 months ago

I think they were referring to the common trope of asking for more experience than is physically possible.

Eh, I assume there are a phenomenal number of job descriptions that are just copy-pasted over. Native [language] speaker, 5+ years coding experience in [framework that's been around for 3 years], etc.

[-] OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml 3 points 6 months ago

Sure, but if it happened I'd see a screenshot of the job posting, not someone who tweeted about totally seeing it

Soon it will be a honeypot to filter AI generated applications. I can exclude the resumes of applicants who claim to meet my bogus desired qualification.
