"Ah yes we freed you. Now you can join our religious army. Family? Don't need one. Pay? We don't have material things. Your mum? You'll never see her again. Ah yes, enjoy that freedom"

“We didn’t come here to free slaves.” Yeah, but like, might as well now that you have the opportunity, right? I mean is there a bad time to free slaves? Qui-Gon has always been a dick in my book.

That line is awful. He’s like SIGH what a bother just give me the kid and the engine part I want.

A lot of planets have had slaves for thousands of years, and the Jedi have always done dick all.

Peace and order in the galaxy is the goal. Justice isn't apparently

Anakin: "Thank you! You saved us all."

Qui Gon: "Saved us? No, it's more like under new management"

More evidence that the Jedi are indeed evil.

This is why I love every moment on Mandalorian when they say the Jedi are dead. A harry potter wizardy religious cult with gigantic laser wands

More evidence that pure good or evil dont exist only grey areas

[-] zloubida@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Some areas are greyer than others.

The fact that they can only indoctrinate people if they start at about toddler age should be a clue that something is off.

[-] amanaftermidnight@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

What? How can you do this? This is outrageous. It's unfair! How can I be a freed man, and still call you master?

[-] fazalmajid@kbin.social 9 points 1 year ago

And they never bothered to free his mother Shmi

[-] scarabic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Someone else did, right? A local man of humble means if I recall. And even then it was being freed straight into a marriage so it doesn’t sound like she had a great deal of choice in the matter. Can’t believe they just left her there. They probably could have lessened Annakin’s attachment issues by just getting her to a more okay situation in life so he didn’t have to worry about her so much. But that would be actually helping a person you care about! Can’t have that!

Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.
