Is Gabe Newell a modern Alexander Kerensky? Will he be defended to the last by a Women's Battalion of Death when the games worker red guards storm Bellevue? The answer, of course, is yes

Are there any attempts at creating decentralised storefronts? Like various fediverse projects are to their social media counterparts?

Seems like you could decentralise it to me, although you would need some sort of method for replacing the "Featured" section since that's pretty much the starting point for shopping and the main runway for all purchasing. Something with a Local vs All federation flavour could work and the Community sections of Steam are just bulletin boards really so those are easily replaceable.
