The amount of security threat encouragement in these comments is impressive.

Earlier this week, PCWorld published a roundup of Windows 12 rumors translated from PCWelt that does not meet our editorial standards. We’re deeply embarrassed by it, and I personally apologize that the article was published. It should not have been, but we’re keeping the article live (with an editor’s note at the top) so it remains in the public record.

Windows Central published a response detailing its errors. Thanks for keeping us accountable, guys — genuinely. In the same spirit of accountability, I want to explain how this happened, and what we’re doing to ensure a mistake like this never occurs again.

Let’s start by discussing how PCWorld handles translated articles, and then I’ll dive into the issues with the article itself.

Lincoln is working on a body-on-frame Mercedes-Benz G-Class/Land Rover Range Rover-fighter for launch in the 2029-30 timeframe, sources tell Autoweek. The two-row Lincoln will ride on the body-on-frame platform that underpins the Ford Bronco, according to one of the sources, who drew the comparison with the Merc G-Wagen—which also makes the Range Rover another likely target.

Was fixing a bad wiring job between a sub panel and a 240v 2 phase water pump and noticed that my multimedia was only testing it as 190v. Checked back at the breaker and saw the same. Checked between L1 and L2 on a different breaker and saw the same.

My 240v equipment (dryer, oven, water heater, 2 HVAC units) all work fine.

Should I be concerned?

How big of a deal is this? Like call an electrician asap or wait until I have some other electrical work lined up?

This complaint reads like a soap opera.

Same news as others have posted, but this is from Above the Law which has a legal/humor slant.

other sysadmin communities and downdetector are reporting outages worldwide to the admin portals such as admin.microsoft.com and portal.azure.com.

No impact to user-facing services, yet.

For some reason, my home shows up as incorrect on apple maps and google maps from any device in my home that doesn't have it's own GPS. I tested different devices, different browsers, and tested with a temporary user account to make sure it wasn't something to do with the user profile.

I've toggled location services off/on, restarted the geolocation service, and restarted.

On my phone the location shows up correctly. I created a hotspot from my phone and connected devices to it and it still shows the wrong location. This isn't a geo-IP issue. I've also confirmed that my geo IP shows up relatively correct.

I ran a command to show all of the BSSIDs where i'm at, and then found a BSSID map service. I only found 3 BSSIDs with a listed location, and they were all correct.

I tried using a linux device but map services simply show that the precise location can't be determined.

I feel like this has something to do with Windows location services, but for it to be wrong on both devices makes me think it's not an issue with my devices, but something wrong with the location services hosted by Microsoft in general.

Any other ideas?

Because they rely on hosts for a majority of functions, viruses aren’t considered alive. But entities like this one complicate matters.

I’d be afraid of anyone referencing “c:\users” too.

This should surprise no one. The reception was poor, delivery was poor. It’s a niche market item in an existing niche market. On top of that, the de facto spokesperson of Tesla isn’t well liked by a lot of potential buyers.

People in the US don’t respect others property. Look at any atm machine or vending machine. There’s no way these things wouldn’t be vandalized immediately.

Holy shit, they pulled the emergency release on one of those MRI machines. I think that adds a zero or two to the cost of bringing back online.

At this point, I have lost count of the number of times that I've left my perfectly working Windows computer at the end of my work day, only to return to a completely broken computer that won't boot the next morning.

I find this to either be a lie or self inflicted. I manage a small fleet of a few hundred windows systems and all updates have been fine for years.

In the windows admin user groups there are more than a few that are deploying updates within 24hrs of release to thousands of servers and workstations and have not reported issues.

Lastly I think that tech bloggers say things like this to get clicks, so they can get ad revenue. Then they also tell you how to disable updates so they can get more clicks and ad revenue.

It’s disingenuous and probably harmful to be telling people to disable updates that lead them to be exposed to vulnerabilities.

If it’s hot outside we can raise the price of water…”

Holy fuck dude that’s some endgame capitalism right there.

Zoom oddly enough was one of the first companies to require people to return to office.

Oh wow the water wars are starting a few years earlier than I anticipated.

A lot of informational content is now in video format instead of text/photos. I can barely understand their poor English in those videos.

I was one of those people that said “let’s see if they will be acceptable neighbors” and well, it seems we have an answer.

If it’s true then I now favor defederation.

Edit: it sounds like this wasn’t true.
