To be honest, when Nintendo has gotten to the point where this story sounds perfectly plausible you can't say they don't deserve all the hate they get (and more, frankly).

The only thing keeping them below Disney on my shit list is that Nintendo seem to act more like the grumpy out-of-touch old man, while Disney is fine being just overtly evil (see the recent wrongful death lawsuit debacle).

I haven't thought about burning CDs in a long time, man that takes me back. Remember Nero Burning ROM?

I think the etymology of the term is that when you're writing data onto a disk you're shooting a laser onto it to alter the chemistry and change its color, for which "burning" the data into it makes sense.

Ketamine is a hell of a drug.

In one segment, I arrive to establish contact with a bunker only to find out everyone inside's been killed—I slink around corners, cautiously search for a laptop, and await whatever butchered everyone to jump out at me—perhaps, if I'm lucky, with an 'ooga booga'. Stalker 2 resists this urge, however, and it just made me even more nervous. This is a trick I imagine the full game's going to use with cruel efficiency, after all, the monsters you can't see are the most frightening.

This is what I love about STALKER, the lonely, desolate and tense moments. Jump scares are great and all, but the atmospheric deserted locations and the constant fear and anticipation is what really sets it apart. Few games do loneliness as well as STALKER.

To his base, no. His base is lost for the world bar some extremely large scale cult-deprogramming. But for independents and undecideds it would still matter to not let the lies linger in the air. Not that it will ever happen, of course.

I do think this is the only way. It's not 270towin this year, we need a margin.

Smells more of puritan sexual moral panic to me than actual concerns about sexism.

Dismissing this as something he wrote when he was 20 and neither believes in nor stands for anymore is the reasonable thing to do. But we all know politics isn't reasonable, and particularly not when it comes to this specific issue. It's deeply emotional, and this will look bad to a lot of voters regardless of how unreasonable it is.

I think picking Shapiro for VP would be risky.

If the community you're looking for exists but doesn't contain posts, the best thing you can do is to start posting yourself, no matter the quality you think your content has.

Humans tend to follow others, which leads to both positive and negative feedback loops. If nobody is posting, anyone discovering the community will think "oh this place is dead, no point in posting".

Being the first to break the ice and do something in a group setting is scary, but once somebody is doing it it's much more likely others will join in.

It's often uncomfortable to be the first person to start dancing to the music, but have you noticed how much easier it is for everyone else to join in when that one guy starts going off?

Hopefully .world decides to defederate Threads and Meta, but if they refuse you can migrate to another instance that does defederate them. The solution here should be to refuse Meta, not give up on Lemmy and the Fediverse.
