His policies are obviously great, we all know this. But you can't go into a hostile environment like a Fox News Town Hall and completely dominate proceedings on policy alone.
No surprise it's FF VI. Absolutely peak final fantasy. Classic Uematsu soundtrack, great story with an iconic villain and a lovable cast. Active Time Battles and a phenomenal Esper system for customization. Square at the height of their pixel art powers with some beautiful sprites. Ultros, the opera scene, train suplexing...
It's a shame they kind of butchered the pixel remaster. I'd try playing a romhack version on an emulator if you're interested, preferably something based on Woolsey's wonderful translation (son of a submariner!).
Valve is not a normal company. As far as I know they still have their fluid work structure in place where projects are dictated by what the devs themselves feel like doing and are inspired by.
Icefrog (who was the lead developer of Dota 2 - and Dota 1 for many years before that) is lead developing Deadlock as I understand it. It has his fingerprints all over it, at least. It seems enough other people at Valve liked his idea of a twist on the MOBA concept to turn it into a full project.
I feel your frustration but there isn't really any opportunity cost lost here. It's not that they decided to make "a game" and chose this one out of all available options. If they felt like they had enough ideas to make Half-Life 3 (or any other single player game) then they would have. It's just that this is the game they want to make right now.
With the clear signs of cognitive decline already apparent (and knowing his diet and lifestyle) I think the chance of him being in a state capable of running in '28 is low - if he's even still alive by then.
Expectation: Televised fireside chat between two billionaires
Reality: World's most boring man calls his grandpa after evening meds time
It's easy to understand once you accept a couple of premises about a large part of the republican base:
- They're fundamentally uneducated and unintelligent.
- They're essentially brainwashed by their media consumption
- They approach politics like football: "This is my team, and I love my team. My team is good because it's my team. The other team is bad because it's not my team."
It was reported ^[1] he had lower favorability ratings in his home state than nationwide. The better you know him the more you hate him.
Not really a huge fan of wheeling out Hillary when a speech by historically unpopular Biden - as sitting president - is already unavoidable. We want to maintain this momentum of Harris being something new and fresh and not associate her with all the establishment democrats everyone hates.
At least Obama is a great speaker, and maybe his speech can lead to more deranged racist statements from Trump to further derail his campaign.
Also worth noting is Lemmy only counts posts/comments as "active users". Lurkers who only read and up/downvote aren't counted.
It's generally when you're stuck in a loop of reading negative posts/articles. I think the phenomenon comes from how when you read a negative article/piece of news you feel down, so you want to scroll further in the hopes of seeing something positive to lift your spirits. But then of course it's only more negativity, and so you keep going. And the algorithms of Twitter/Facebook knows this, so they don't tend to help you find something positive.
I'm not sure any Lemmy-specific admin would have been invited since I'm still of the opinion that Zuckerberg barely knows or cares what Lemmy is and is mainly concerned with Twitter and Mastodon.
However, if Fosstodon admins were contacted then it's likely Ruud/his team were too seeing as his Mastodon instance is significantly larger than Fosstodon.
I believe "Russian Bot Farm Presence" is the preferred metric of social network relevance in the scientific community.
