I completely agree, which is why I was relishing her association hurting Trump's chances.

Yeah I don't understand how people are still surprised by this either. He is an unrepentant, raging malignant narcissist. He physically - biologically! - cannot resist defending his ego when challenged.

Would be silly to ban this because of the implication. There is literally nothing untoward with the submission. It's just an empty room. Anyone who knows what it refers to have already seen the material it references so who exactly are you "protecting"?

I agree with you. I remember arguing about this a year ago when people first discovered votes were public on Kbin. I don't want to obsess over who up- or downvoted me and I don't want anyone else doing that either. Discussions are healthier when voting is anonymous (or at least obscured as is currently the case).

If bots become such an overwhelming problem that all regular users need access to voting records to better report all the bots I'll maybe revisit my stance. But right now the gains seem dubious.

Trump...could lose in November if the election is decided on “vibes” and “energy”,

My brother in Christ you've already seen the response to Project 2025, you think policy will be a better angle of attack?

The Trump campaign has sketched out a strategy to hit back and are expected to cast the Harris campaign as the most progressive ticket

I honestly think there's been a shift in the American population. I don't know if it's just a new generation coming into voting age, cultural influence from social media or a reduced effectiveness of Red Scare type propaganda - probably all of them and more I'm forgetting.

Regardless, I don't think "progressive" is a ticket killer anymore. Harris doesn't seem to either since she leaned into it with Walz. Hell, isn't Bernie still *the" most popular politician in America?

She just needs to mimic Walz's disarming responses to accusations of socialism and progressiveness and they've got nothing.

I don't remember much of the Kerry campaign, but didn't he lean into his service record? The stolen valor argument is much weaker seeing as Walz has never claimed he's seen active combat.

Regardless, it's incredibly disappointing to see reputable news outlets bat for Trump just because the Dems have two ever so slightly left-leaning people on the ticket.

The spoiler tag issue is an especially big problem as it comes up a lot. I still can't let go of Sync as it looks and feels the best, but it would be nice if this stuff got fixed.

Sounds more like fascist fetishization of the strong and disparaging of the weak to me.

It was reported by I think NBC Chicago that Trump refused to participate if they went ahead with the live fact checking as planned, which produced a standoff that delayed proceedings by about a half hour.

I'm not sure this has been substantiated by other sources.

EDIT: It's mentioned briefly here, but somebody went into more detail in a tweet I don't have on hand.

The US is bizarro world in so many aspects. Political Supreme Court appointees that are appointed for life (!), two party system, the electoral college, the absurdly long election cycles...

I really, really hate Nintendo.

By sheer user count allowing them to federate would mean the end of non-Meta content on the All feed. Threads is already much bigger than the entire combined Fediverse so the total engagement would drown any Lemmy content, unless of course driven by Meta comments itself. This would no longer be Lemmy, it would be Threads that you could use your Lemmy account for. Maybe not if the algorithm was changed to filter out posts from Threads from the All feed, but you'd still get your communities flooded with Facebook comments.

This is in addition to the rest of the problematic issues with Meta as a company.
