This is extremely nice of you to say. I really started with a crappy set of tools that I bought online and the first scraps of leather I could get my hands on, and of course my first cardholder was an atrocity, but I still have it, and from there, I learned everything from tutorials and forums. There's more than enough free content online to learn the basics and more. Also the leathercraft community is very kind, so if you feel like this is a hobby for you, I can only encourage you to give it a try it doesn't require much room, and you should be able to get started with 50 bucks. Happy to provide resources or advice on tools if you'd like.

Here's another watchstrap, I got many pics of old projects in my gallery that I'll keep share over time, hope it's not seen as spamming and that it doesn't bother anyone haha. As usual, I'm happy to share details about the build :)

Simple deck case (lemmy.zip)
submitted 2 days ago by Dop@lemmy.zip to c/leathercraft@lemmy.ca

Simple deck case I made. Very easy project as it's made with a single piece of leather, folded and held in shape with only 2 rivets.

Same here, but it does captivate the baby, and it was a fun project (took me quite some time to make it though).

I think about it but I have no idea where to start and how this works. Also I assumed that with my crappy skills self hosting may be a big vulnerability!?

I cut a smaller piece of leather, skive it to the proper shape, and glue it in between the two sides. I usually glue it to the flesh side of the bottom layer, then fold the top layer over, on top of the assembly. Top layer is an oversized rectangle and inner layer is true to size. Once everyrhknis glued together I cut the top layer to its final saze by following the shape of the inner layer and then I saddle stitch the strap and finish with the edge work.

Here's one with more details than the previous one, and one more pic of the strap from above !

Sorry, it was a gift and I didn't take a pic of the other side as this was exactlyas you called it, a tease for the person I made it for. Most time I don't take pics of the other side since it's mostly interesting to us hobbyists haha I'll look into my pics and will share one with the othe inner side up if I find one!

Lots of debt to preserve their healthcare system, but they'll have to take the money somewhere else, I'm betting on public services and unemployment insurance. Plus they have a big political trial coming soon, solo I would've pumped the numbers to 1M, and even so I wouldn't say it's safe haha
