I agree, psychological torture is no joke. My point was that the original headline really led me to expect to read a story of sexual abuse, or other physical violence. It was actually a relief to read that it wasn't, even if the sleep depravation is still awful.

Yeah, the title is really misleading and sensational if that's what the "abuse" consisted of.

I'm going to put in another recommendation for Ex Officio underwear. Most comfortable I have ever tried. I've been wearing them exclusively since I discovered them 10+ years ago. The oldest pairs lasted 8ish years before the elastic started to give out.

I've had a cheap IKEA "ORDNING" scale for a decade, and I think I have changed the battery once. Though it appears to have been discontinued, and replaced with a very different looking model.

I'm not sure, but probably not "Red Dawn"

When I visited France, I always attempted to speak French, and would explain in French that I was very bad at it, and I only had good interactions where people seemed to appreciate the attempt and would switch to English for me or if they didn't speak English we would just use google translate. Even in Paris.

I've often thought about the idea that there is really no such thing as true altruisim. Because no matter what, you feel good about doing good. Even if you don't tell anyone about the good thing you did, you still get a good feeling from it, therefore there is some inherent selfishness involved no matter what.

Of course there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. People should absolutely being doing good things and get to feel good about it.

I too have wondered about this. I doubt I will ever think to ask a chatbot a thing I would normally just "google" using a search engine. Sifting through search results is a skill/habit honed over 25+ years that just makes more sense to me. I also don't trust AI to answer correctly.
