Yea, I guess that makes sense. I didn't really read much, I skimmed through it read some bits and bobs and saw all the pictures and was like yea that's enough for me

Yep, I just don't really see the point in getting the latest and greatest most expensive model anymore, the yearly improvements just aren't anything to write home about like they were a handful of years ago. Xiaomi's Redmi line is honestly such a good bang for your buck, the Redmi 13 is like $145 new and is very good considering the price. Xiaomi also lets you unlock your bootloader fairly easily unlike Samsung if that's something that matters to you, which it does to me.

Where I'm from I'm wondering why there are so many tractors. We literally have a "drive your tractor to school" day and it's quite hilarious.

You'll definitely not be doing any hardware accelerated graphics shenanigans on 9, there isn't really any graphics drivers or anything of that sort, you just get a basic framebuffer and a library to draw basic 2D graphics which can still be plenty if you do some old school software rasterization.

For hardware support you can see an incomplete list for 9front here: https://fqa.9front.org/fqa3.html I'd say you're probably safe to just pick up an old Dell Optiplex and some cheap generic USB peripherals and it'd probably work out of the box. I'd just double check the Ethernet situation so you can have networking since that's kind of the whole appeal of 9. Raspberry Pis are also supported and work fairly well in my testing and 9front provides images for them on their website.

Ah, it's that time again, we're bringing SS7 and it's problems back into the spotlight baby! I don't have my fingers crossed that this will be solved anytime soon... I mean it's been in mainstream media every few years since like, what, 2006?

Bazzite (and atomic/immutable distributions in general) are really neat, but I personally avoid recommending them to first time Linux users because if they end up searching for a solution to a problem they're having on the internet, the top solutions that pop up in their search engine most likely not going to be what they're looking for or even work. Explaining the concepts of an immutable distribution and things like rpm-ostree to someone new to Linux can be quite the challenge and turn them off because of they'll most likely interpret it as unnecessary complexity to achieve a simple goal.

I know this is a joke, but... NetBSD has a Dreamcast port so it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility that you could make a Hexbear post on a Dreamcast using a terminal-based web browser or some bare bones HTTP client if you have one of those expansion cards that lets you connect to the internet.

A little bit of a rant for anyone reading, but if you want the Arch experience, just use Arch itself. archinstall (which comes with the bootable installation media) makes it super easy to install with your favorite desktop environment and it cuts out the middleman who is known to break their website and repositories quite often.

And it's not impossible to get rid of Intel's management engine, you just have to be comfortable enough with flashing some chips on your motherboard. There are even some manufacturers who do this for you, but you just have to kind of take their word for it.
