You're greatly overestimating how many people that is; additionally, it was largely people that aren't very committed to FOSS that got mad. The project maintainers and most users are fine with it. People who are committed to FOSS ideals are overwhelmingly progressive to leftist. That's why those codes of conduct were added in the first place, and were largely uncontroversial amongst most actual contributors of those projects.

I don't know, that sounds like hard, thankless work that will take years of consistent effort, dealing with countless setbacks and losses but not giving up, before finally achieving our goals of making real and meaningful change. What if instead if that I just don't buy Starbucks, will that work?

Plants aren't sentient. When we say they "feel pain" and "communicate" we don't mean like sentient creatures. We just don't have better words to accurately convey the mechanics at play here. Computers also "communicate".

It really seems like you didn't have an actual argument, you just wanted to whine and duck away from any pushback.

I distinctly remember Democrats opposing Trump on moving the embassy to Jerusalem. They never fought him as much as they should, but they did fight him.

Exactly, so we can't rely on Democrats to effectively contain Trump as you suggested we might. They are not strong or reliable enough. They capitulate far too easily.

Let's not forget this is also what lead to the rise of the DSA and the largest protest movement in American history.

What really led to the DSA growing so much was Bernie Sanders radicalizing millions with his 2016 run. Then, the squad capitalized on that energy in 2018 and onwards, leading to many DSA members being elected nationwide, which then further grew the organization.

I know it's not considered "cool" amongst leftists to admit electoralism can ever lead to positive outcomes, but them's the breaks. None of this would have happened if not for them.

It's not creepy to ask a follow-up about information they volunteered in the first place.

It's awesome how in the modern world we have to maintain an antagonistic relationship with the things we pay for because they constantly try to goad us into paying for more things.

Almost nothing Valve has worked on is only for SteamOS, other than packaging and distributing SteamOS itself. They've upstreamed kernel patches, RADV patches, KDE patches, etc which affects all desktops. Not to mention the open source tools like Gamescope and Fossilize, the latter of which is used automatically on all Linux PCs playing Steam games, and their contributions and funding to Wine and other projects. Even the new Steam big picture UI, which was initially only available on SteamOS, is now broadly available.

It's no exaggeration to say that Valve is carrying Linux gaming these past few years. It has been a downright renaissance.
