I use it mostly for YouTube music (which costs almost the same as Spotify), no ads on YouTube is a nice bonus.

More appropriate in terms of what? Batteries and renewable fuels could serve two applications. And be more practical in certain locations.

The infrastructure can be location based. Doesn't make sense to have EV in certain locations with poor grid coverage, or renewable fuels in big cities.

We have plenty of technologies with double infrastructure, I mean EV and carbon based fuels are both around, no problem whatsoever, even better on because we don't rely on a single infrastructure. Renewable fuels can use a similar infrastructure to natural gas with a few tweaks. We have fiber optic, cable phone, 4/5G, all serve the "same" purpose but for different applications. There's no "winner" there.

Batteries don't deliver power as fast as fuels, so depending on what you need as a consumer you can decide to go for EV (single passenger small car for cities) or renewable fuels for long range, or high powered trucks for freight and heavy load.

For the life of me, I tried every single pdf reader on Linux, none gets close to Adobe reader, in terms of compatibility, tools and nice UI. Every time I found the perfect one on Linux, days later I realised my collaborators couldn't see my highlights (or something of the sorts).

In my school uniform included shoes (or at least they had to be of a certain colour). True, you will know who is rich anyway, but the point of the uniform was not to hide who was wealthy, but instead level all clothes and avoid flashing.

Personally, although I think uniforms don't serve their purpose, and kids are better off wearing whatever they want, I loved that I didn't have to think about what to wear when going to school.

Well it was not clear what you were referring to. The comment you replied was talking about the rules, not the kids wearing dirty clothes.

Since when Lemmy got full of pretentious twats that label everyone stupid for having a misunderstanding that is clearly their fault?

I never managed, I used Linux Mint, but I didn't bother to try others.

You were the one who quoted that wage theft is a form or fraud, so I'm not sure what's your point. Yes, some theft can be fraud... but still theft.

As a Spotify user, I'm not really ok with how much they pay artists... But I don't use Spotify for "streaming" even though I stream a lot from them, I use it to discover new music, find obscure bands, their algorithm is amazing at that.

I could easily selfhost as you suggested, but then it would be my own music bubble.

I go to concerts and buy merchandise as much as possible when I want to support an artist.

Nah man, I value way more the contact with my mum and close friends than refusing to use an stupid app.

If my mum is in trouble and try to message me via WhatsApp: "sorry mum, I don't answer WhatsApp messages, good luck next time trying to get someone to help you". Nah man, that's so shitty.

Yeah, that's small little thing, that everyone uses it. I've been waiting to get away from WhatsApp for years, but I would be an idiot to say that I can get away from it and still communicate with my family and friends via text.

Yeah, that works as intended, what I meant is to have offline files, (full on sync folders) not only the virtual disc mounted. I work with lots of scripts (MATLAB) and the speed is significantly slower for virtual files.

I'll take a horrible billionaire investing in malaria research over a manchild billionaire obsessed with naming everything X.
