Thanks, much appreciated!

I guess technically this would fall under the “stippling” umbrella. “Pointillism” generally means using full color for the dots, usually with paint.

But I’m not really the pedantic type, so whatever. I usually say stippling.

Lots of dots!

A3 size, ink + paper.

This always comes up when people look at my stuff. Love it! I definitely watched quite a lot of that screensaver.

I did this one with inks. Brush for the colors, dip pen (and a bit of brush) for the black.

I’m also a Migadu user. Nothing but good experiences with them. Simple, solid, and straightforward.

A3, dip pen + ink on paper.

Roughly 56 hours of putting dots on this piece of paper...

With this alcohol-based paint it was just the easiest way to get the fine lines I wanted.

The paint would clog up a fountain pen / technical pen pretty much immediately, and refillable felt-tip pens (like for paint pens) would be thicker than I wanted.

Yeah, I’m an artist on mastodon.art. Not a huge fan their heavy moderation and the drama it creates. I’d love to switch instances, but hate that previous posts don’t travel with you.

Thanks!

I think one factor is I generally don’t use a ruler/straightedge — just freehand it. So every line has varying degrees of imperfection.

That’s super cool! I’ll try and check it out if I’m ever in the area.

Some thing done with ink.

Some weird illustration I made. Linework and stippling is analog with ink -- colors and texture is digital.

Thanks!

This one was just doodling with a fountain pen in my sketchbook (the pages have that nice 1mm orange grid). I generally just dive straight in with pen, getting all of the linework in there first, then slowly thicken up lines, add shadows, stippling, etc.

No planning for this one. It's actually pretty rare I plan anything out. Maybe something basic like "mostly straight + angular lines" or "just stippling".
