This is fantastic. Great news!

Some users just want to melt in to the crowd I guess.

I have my own domain and i love it. In fact, it's going to become more and more important knowing how to self host things. Big tech is extreamly preditory.

Haha no problem. :) It's a great distro. And you know the old joke...

  • How do you know someone is using arch?
  • They will tell you.

:)

Yeah many people say that but Ubuntu is not very good in my opinion. Outdated packages, snaps, commercials in the installer and so on. I would pick PopOS any day over that myself. But it's because I'm really sensitive to those things.

It doesn't really matter what they use. As long as it's open source and decentralized, avoiding big tech running the servers, it's a huge win.

There is no peaceful existence with big tech when it comes to this. They will turn it into ads and tracking and that's not compatible with the moral values of the open source community.

It's Microsoft culture vs Linux culture.

No, absolutely not dumb at all. I have tried almost all Linux distros myself over the years, and ran them for a while. It's fun. And maybe you like this one and stick with it.

Either way you will learn new things just by trying it.

Well of course. Lemmy is not censored like the other social media platforms so you will get to hear what people actually think here.

A lot of people feel uncomfortable around gay and trans people. It will take time.

How do you feel about that?

[-] mrmanager@lemmy.today 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah I can see your point. And I smiled at "freezing cold". I mean, to me it's more like "people acting" but its always up for subjective interpretation. Also depends on who is in your list of contacts. I have mostly recruiters I don't know at all.

It's much better for mental health at least. You won't know about all the stuff that happens every day, but I feel like it's all useless knowledge anyway.

You will start to feel disgusted by those people on the TV. News anchors, presidents, celebrities, fed chairman's or whatever it is. They are all inside the matrix 100%.

I bet that 99% of comments that are downvoted are not breaking any rules at all, and a mod would do nothing.

I don't know why people keep thinking downvoting is helping the mods... It really isn't about anything other than pushing down opinions you don't agree with. That's how downvoting is used, upvoting is the opposite of that.
