That other people would do what is right and protect me from abuse, as a child and as an adult.

That the legal system will protect innocent people, punish the guilty and ensure justice is done.

That other people are higher-thinking and moral.

As your not-so-humble moderator of !spaceexploration@sopuli.xyz , I ask you to help save the New Horizons project which is threatened with shit-canning from NASA.

New Horizons is the probe that flew by Pluto a few years ago, that took the famous picture of Pluto's heart. It's also the only probe we have out there by Pluto and the Kuiper Belt, and the only one slated to be sent out for 20-30 years. For us millennials, we'll be in our 60's or 70's by the time they choose to send another if they're allowed to shut down New Horizons. Meaning we might never get to see new Pluto pics again.

Pluto's heart cries out for your love. For New Horizons's love.

Our cell phones the world over cry out for new Kuiper Belt wallpapers.

Our hearts cry out for more space content!!

Media has been using nonviolence as a propaganda tool to quash rebellions and silence dissent in the U.S. for decades.

Think about it: almost every single story you ever see across all media that has the heroes using violence in a positive light, especially revenge content, will always portray that character's actions as a negative even when objectively they are not. They always look to the same playbook of cliched arguments, one-liners, and tropes to do this. They are all oversimplified caricatures of or misrepresentations of nonviolence, violence, and revenge, justice, forgiveness, etc. A lot are just outright lies or ad-homs.

It's even departmental policy in some companies to force writers to write their scripts in such a manner.

The only director I've ever seen rebel against it is Quentin Tarantino and I don't think he has been doing it deliberately.

The issue here is buying power is dramatically dropping which is a function of both wages and prices. Raising the minimum wage alone won't fix that; instead, price controls will have to be implemented such that all housing is bought back down to prices that are satisfactory to consumers. That can't happen without federal legislation.
