Unfortunately if the U.S. gets really bad, everywhere will get really bad. If Trump does putin’s bidding, then it will creat power vacuums around the world and will lead to wars. Leaving might be less safe than staying.

Or it won’t be as bad as predicted and it will just be very bad. Then I’m not sure.

How is 90k enough to kill a company? Payroll likely dwarfs that number. And creditors will usually work with you if there’s an issue like that and you can show them what happened and how it’s fixed.

Tech workers often don’t make enough money for it to make sense to live in the city long term unless it’s really important to them. If they have kids, this goes double. A lot of people commute from upstate and that is a hellish commute, even by train.

Biden wants to give money to wealthy landlords so they can build luxury apartments using our tax dollars, so they can rent them out and increase their wealth.

Somehow gen z’s early exposure to porn has made them more prudish than the religious. Literally. I’ve Seen so many posts on Reddit and had real life conversations with gen z people where they’ve said that they hate when couples publicly say their trying for a baby because it means they’re being “creampied” and that’s awkward for them.

None of these things are plot holes. Why is it unbelievable that Obi Wan would keep the light saber? You might not have, but that doesn’t mean Obi Wan wouldn’t. Who is Luke’s family supposed to be? Yes, Obi Wan still dresses like a Jedi when he lives as a hermit. Vader is subject to the emperor’s wishes. It’s believable that tarken is very effective and therefore the emperor sees how valuable he is and he could outrank the emperor’s useful idiot attack dog.

Essentially popular music is made via assembly lines owned by manufacturers now.

  1. People churn out beats.
  2. Other people lay down gibberish lyrics to set a melody to the best from step 1.
  3. The best from step 2 get, writers, actual lyrics and an artist.
  4. Artist records
  5. Engineers heavily rework the recorded vocals

The companies that run these assembly lines aren’t going to rock the boat like that. Writers that neither made the music nor will have any part of recording or performing are making a product. It’s not a passion project, so they aren’t going to write protest lyrics either. In the 60s and 70s, there was a lot of popular music that really was made by individual artists and bands.

Today, there is plenty of protest music. It’s just not popular music because it doesn’t have as much industry backing.

Honestly, if she hadn’t threaded to kill her boyfriend with her car before this happened, then I think suspending her license for a decade or two or may be life would be the right solution. Prison shouldn’t be a punishment, but a way to keep everyone else safe from dangerous people. If she won’t drive, then she isn’t a danger. But it sounds like she’s dangerous no matter what.

He was the main character’s mentor in Pi also, right? That’s where I remember him from.

As a northerner from a top 50 MSA, I have to say that I thought these towns only existed in quirky lifetime movies and black sketch comedy shows depicting comically absurd stereotypes of racist backwards towns. I mean wtf! Really?!

I’m on lemmy less than I used to be on Reddit because the communities I liked on Reddit are dead here. I know I don’t want to go back to Reddit, but I don’t have the time to try to build the communities from Reddit here either. So I spend less time on social media and that’s ok too.
