He destroyed the Death Star and rescued a princess. Those seem notable.
That sounds lonely. We all live together. Sharing is a much better default than walling everyone off and judging everyone for sharing really basic parts of life is kind of sad. Obviously there are limit, but “we’re trying to have a baby” and “I’m having surgery” shouldn’t be something that we’re pressured to not share.
I can’t believe they ever had value.
None of these things are plot holes. Why is it unbelievable that Obi Wan would keep the light saber? You might not have, but that doesn’t mean Obi Wan wouldn’t. Who is Luke’s family supposed to be? Yes, Obi Wan still dresses like a Jedi when he lives as a hermit. Vader is subject to the emperor’s wishes. It’s believable that tarken is very effective and therefore the emperor sees how valuable he is and he could outrank the emperor’s useful idiot attack dog.
I like Lemmy for the communities it has. But the problem is that it doesn’t have the communities that I like most. I liked Reddit most for the hobby communities that aren’t all necessarily programming or gaming related. Lemmy is fantastic for memes and news and programming and gaming. But those are a small portion of what I used Reddit for. And they aren’t even my favorite part. Look at true guitar communities. Or astronomy, or any other hobby. It’s extremely inactive here.
So I found myself using Lemmy a lot. And then I realized that I was only using Lemmy for the things I don’t actually care about and the things I do care about aren’t here.
He shouted at progressives who were actually speaking factually as well. And he loved coming up with contrived hypocrisies when he couldn’t shut down facts. Seriously fuck that guy. I don’t know why people hold him up as a good interviewer.
He wants shitbag, astroturf, conservative, fascist “personalities” to be able to respond to and every prominent non-fascist post where they can be promoted to the top of the replies.
As a bonus, it will also help the astroturfing oil companies better kill environmental efforts.
The hive mind is whatever the community upvotes. It’s inherent and was always on Lemmy as well as any other place that allows upvotes and/or downvotes.
The industry is in th best position they’ve been in recent memory too. They have recurring revenue from streaming and can hold out for a very long time. It’s not like the past where they needed prime time shows and consistent movie releases to survive.
This fails to say by what metric the bots are more efficient. Unless it’s just time-to-first-response. That’s the only metric referenced and it’s a stupid one if it’s the only metric.
I’m on lemmy less than I used to be on Reddit because the communities I liked on Reddit are dead here. I know I don’t want to go back to Reddit, but I don’t have the time to try to build the communities from Reddit here either. So I spend less time on social media and that’s ok too.
People play cyberpunk games and watch cyberpunk movies with stories just like this and manage to miss the fact that we already live this way.
