What does this mean? Have they hacked a Matrix server, a client, the protocol, or is there some other underground chat-app called MATRIX?

Related is that the app does not remember chosen feed. I just want to see the communities that I've subscribed to. But the app never remembers my choice. Probably some bug related to local storage. Because I doubt this is intended.
