I see Monero nodes stats mentioned here

How is this data obtained? Also, that map appears to have node locations pinned down to high accuracy. Are these locations really accurate and why is this not detrimental to privacy or censorship?

Mainly I am curious if you think say kraken de lists XMR and the final cex on / off ramp is removed how might this affect XMR price?

Is it possible that even if the total market cap went down because a liquidity black hole crisis that the price could skyrocket to levels never seen due to a supply shock while demand is the same?

Looking back the binance crash seemed very sus and short lived and manipulated.

Is it possible having CEX is literally only hurting XMR or is it essential for it to survive? Your thoughts are welcome here.

Buying 4k worth using this method makes me end up paying about $50-70 fees. I was going to look at localmonero since I have a bunch of cash and it would be awesome if I could find someone willing to sell it at market value, they'd get more money than selling it on an exchange as well. Are there any sites to find people that are trying to sell their monero for cheaper than this method?

Recently the Kraken app has removed monero from their trading, so i went to binance and they seem to have removed it as well. What's going on?

And follow up question whats the best trading app for monero right now, where i can buy XMR for EUR? and of course withdraw to another wallet. Have been having an unbelievably hard time finding a safe and reliable exchange app now that i cant use kraken anymore. (My knowledge in this is obviously limited)

Hi all! We've added Monero as a payment option to www.nano-gpt.com . People can request coins to add on our website and Monero was the most requested, so we're very happy to add it.

Our service is built for privacy - we don't store any prompts or conversations, you can use our service even without making an account, so Monero is quite obviously a perfect fit for all the right reasons.

Minimum deposit is just $0.10, and we think our payment implementation is pretty great. Should take just seconds to go from depositing to it being confirmed and you being able to use the models.

We support pretty much all the models - ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, but also open-source and uncensored ones like Hermes, Lumimaid and other roleplay models, and practically any model you can think of. If you want one and we don't support it yet let us know, we'll add it.

We also have practically every image model supported. Recraft V3 is the current top of the leaderboard and it's our default model, we also support Flux Pro V1.1, Ideogram V2, Stable Diffusion V3.5 Large, SDXL, DALL-E, and allow you to turn off censoring on the models that support it by going into settings.

We love to see more actual usage of crypto and want to try and build more of a circular ecosystem around crypto, so we also have an Earn page to show people how to earn little bits of crypto. We have Monezon, XMRChat, XMRBazaar and MoneroMarket on there amongst others - if there are more suggestions to add for people to earn Monero please let us know!

The short story: vthor, a dev that joined the Monero project a while ago, is looking for donations through the CCS, to write software that will bring XmrSigner (formerly called MoneroSigner) to production quality and therefore into the hands of users. That software will turn a Raspberry Pi single-board computer into a Monero "cold signing" device - something like a hardware wallet.

Find more info here on X or on the FAQ page of the older MoneroSigner website. Go here to donate:

IMHO a true community-driven Monero hardware wallet would be a welcome addition to commercial hardware wallet offers.

The background story: Out of the many existing cryptocurrency hardware wallets, currently only two support XMR: Trezor and Ledger. Only one of them uses open source software, Trezor. Both use fully proprietary hardware. To improve this far-from-ideal state of affairs, a dev called Monero-HackerIndustrial started the MoneroSigner project in summer 2022 (original CCS to finance, project website).

For unclear reasons, that dev did not complete the project, and so a new dev called vthor took over - "ressurection" CCS with funds reallocated.

In a refreshingly short time he could successfully complete a version of the software that worked (announcement in the Monero Observer), but unfortunately it ran too slowly to be really practical to use. That's why vthor worked out a way to rewrite parts of the software to achieve a significant speedup and bring XmrSigner finally to production quality. This new CCS is now open for donations to finance this hopefully final step in the MoneroSigner saga.

With 196 XMR the library in question certainly has its price, but processing the quite complex Monero transactions with good performance on a low-power device is indeed a challenge, and the library won't be XmrSigner specific, meaning that other future projects could profit from it as well.

say that authority asked you to show your monero wallet, you did, then they asked you where did you receive the funds, can you just say that you mined it? I mean they can't track where the funds came from anyway afaik in monero

Haveno seems to get better and better. A couple of months ago it took weeks for transactions to happen, and now it happened in a couple of hours. Liquidity is much better. It works!

My question is why do people want a huge premium below (when buying) or over (when selling). I see people who want to buy with price between 10% to 30% below spot, or trying to sell at 15% over spot. Why is that? Is it to compensate some hidden risk? Why not simply buy/sell at 0% over/under spot?

I have been converting some monero to solana on a decentralized exchange. The. I send the solana to a major market exchange like coinbase and Gemini and then cash out to cover living expenses.

Lately I have been getting emails From the major exchanges asking as to where I acquired the solana. I’ve been doing this for years and this is the first time it comes up.

Can they see on a blockchain or the solana was purchased with monero ?

Hey Monero enthusiasts!

Super excited to share that we've just launched a new P2P crypto exchange supporting Monero (XMR) and Bitcoin (BTC) after months of development! The platform comes with a solid escrow system that locks the seller's funds during trades for everyone's peace of mind.

Bitrica.com

Some cool features we've packed in:

  • Lightning-fast withdrawals (just set your withdrawal address before starting a trade)
  • Telegram notifications - super handy for sellers to stay on top of their trades
  • Email 2FA for extra security
  • All the popular payment methods you'd expect
  • Cold storage for maximum security
  • Just 1% fee for sellers (pretty sweet, right?)
  • Got issues? No worries - you can always open a dispute and our mods will sort it out
  • Flexible pricing for sellers: set either a market price margin (like if XMR is at $150 and you set 10%, your selling price would be $165) or lock in a fixed price.

We've put our heart and soul into building this platform and really hope the community digs it. Whether you're interested in trading, we'd love to have you join us and get started!

Drop by and check us out - we're stoked to see you there! Let us know what you think 🚀

Monero is a Swiss bank account in your pocket and with the wide spread adoption on the dark web and growing rapidly on the clear web with the Monero circular economy pledge started by @DouglasTuman

Monero positions its self as the best form of digital cash and somewhere you store your wealth privately

Bitcoin is a mere hot potato with ultimately no real use case. And this is coming from someone who’s mined bitcoin and used to be a maxi

You must open up your mind and think for yourself. Not repeat moon boys who don’t understand what it takes for a currency to have widespread adoption

You can try and cope saying Bitcoin is number go up and have fun staying poor

But monero is insanely undervalued and is easily top 5 if not #1

Since XMR is private I’ll be paying 0 in taxes

Enjoy your public bank account and tax bill -@MoneroMavrick on X

Edit: Thanks to Kraken for being one of the last and only pillar-stones on CEX landscape for privacy. Sorry to see them go!

Email to Kraken (EU) customers:

This is a reminder that after thorough consideration, and exploration of all viable alternatives, we concluded we have no choice but to delist Monero (XMR) in the European Economic Area (EEA) due to regulatory changes.

What’s next?

On October 31st 2024 at 15:00 PM UTC, we will halt trading and deposits of all XMR markets (XMR/USD, XMR/EUR, XMR/BTC, XMR/USDT) for clients registered in the EEA. Margin positions and any open XMR orders will also be automatically closed at this time. Note: Clients will remain able to withdraw XMR on Kraken until December 31st, 2024. December 31st 2024 at 15:00 PM UTC is the deadline for withdrawing XMR. Any clients still holding an XMR balance after this date will have their XMR automatically converted to BTC by Kraken at the going market rate. By January 6th 2025 23:59 PM UTC, we will distribute the converted XMR as BTC back to any clients who held XMR at the withdrawal deadline. Any clients who hold an XMR balance at the time of the withdrawal deadline will be automatically included in the conversion of XMR to BTC.

We strongly recommend you withdraw your XMR yourself before the deadline as we have no control over the BTC conversion rate in the future.

As a leading cryptocurrency exchange, Kraken remains mission-driven and committed to supporting the most comprehensive set of digital assets possible, in alignment with our regulatory and compliance obligations.

We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support as we navigate the evolving regulatory landscape.

By extrapolation, if the price of Monero were set at $170,000 per unit instead of $170, would the fees increase proportionately?

I set up an old laptop I was going to give away to mine monero. It was fun to get it going. It’ll probably generate $30 a year lol. Are there any tools available to calculate the payout based on systems I could build? I’d like to watch for some deals on used CPUs and see what I can do. Would love any resources you could recommend for me to start getting a better understanding of what H/s I need to hit and what components could do so. Thank you.
