CoinJoin BTC Vs Monero (lemmit.online)

For those who don't know, CoinJoin in short is a process used to anonymize BTC transactions. Samourai Wallet has its own implementation of CoinJoin for BTC.

So the question here is if you can render BTC transactions anonymous, what does XMR bring to the table? I realize that people can catch a tainted BTC when they use coinJoin TX. But AFAIK, it's difficult to prove that once BTC comes out of the CJ pool.

Maybe I missing something here...

Hello all! I have a NAS with a lot of storage, and run a full node in the Monero GUI wallet on multiple computers. Can I simplify things and move the full blockchain to the NAS? This way, I will have the most up to date blockchain no matter which PC I am using. Thanks!

Edit: After some chats, I found what I needed to do, and I found a resource. Thought I might link it here for future people. I'll try it out, and report back later (hopefully).

Hi All,

Time flies! 6 years since launch! I won't bore you all with the stuff I wrote in my note at the 5th year anniversary. If interested, please search my profile and you can find it. I would appreciate it if you do.

But just to quickly recap, we started building Cake Wallet in the 3rd quarter of 2017 and launched in January of 2018. As I always say the highest and probably the most emotional time for me was when Cake got listed on getmonero. I would just sit and refresh getmonero over and over just to see the Cake logo popup. It was NOT easy to get listed on the App Store back then.

What started out as a basic (VERY basic) Monero wallet on iOS only has grown into a wallet that's basic enough for starters but filled with numerous features for advanced users and now with availability on iOS, Android, MacOS, Linux (and soon Windows).

Small plug of features : I believe we are the first wallet to add 2FA to complete various tasks - a feature I really like and user. I also like the multi send feature, coin control, address book, add your own node, accounts/subaddresses, nodes, Tor (through orbot for now), fiat api through tor, and the freedom we provide to our users to turn on/off features they don't want and so much more.

Cake now has multiple coins and we moved the Monero ONLY feature to the Monerodotcom by Cake Wallet app for the hardcore types, or if you just want another Monero wallet in addition to Cake that you don't use or use for other stuff :). (BTW MoneroDotCom Wallet is no available for MacOS desktop)

Cake's apps have over 400,000 unique downloads on iOS and Android App Store combined. We don't know about the direct downloads so its probably more than 400k.

From the beginning the Monero community is important to me and very near to me. We have been A LOT together. Any new feature we add in Cake, we ask ourselves "How will this affect Monero" or "Let's discuss with the community". This will not change for me. If I want to do something without the Monero community, I will go ahead and launch another wallet WITHOUT Monero so Cake, Monerodotcom, and Monero are not affected. This is a hypothetical.. and no nothing is planned or in the works.

In 2024, we will continue finding ways to make Monero easier to use in addition to finding more and more ways to use in the real world. Regardless of the very small minority of haters, we will keep building Cake, Monerodotcom, and Cake Pay. I will continue funding the development of Monero, Monero related projects, conferences, meetups, podcasts, books, movies, art, and much much more. You have a Monero related project? Let's talk.

Of course all this for Cake couldn't have happened without our amazing dev, support, and marketing teams that make it happen 24/7/365.

Thank you Monero Community very much for working with me for the last 6 years on making Cake Wallet and Monerodotcom Wallet a success and the premier wallets for Monero.

Vik

PS: Come join me and the Cake Team in Dallas in March at the Finney Forum on Privacy. Cake is the MAIN sponsor. Luke Parker and other Monero community members are speaking.

In the latest interview to CNBS mr. Gensler has said literally the following:

“ I taught about at MIT around a ledger system. It’s just an accounting system called the Blockchain technology. But there’s an irony in the midst of that. Satoshi Nakamoto said this was going to be a decentralized system. And finance -- this has led to centralization. Think about the irony of those who say this week is historic. This was about centralization and traditional means of finance… “

Indeed, Bitcoin industry is heavily centralised and hardly censored by established total KYC control over Bitcoin blockchain. Furthermore, your Bitcoins can be easily infected by Dirtiness if you involve just a tiny part of them in a susceptible trade process over the transparent blockchain.

Then, interviewer contradicts Gensler that Bitcoin has a distributed ledger still, despite some kind of centralisation of a price determining process, and Gensler does speak exactly like he were a Monero evangelist:

“ No, Andrew, with all respect, there’s a lot of centralization here. And even the underlying ledger, largely the bitcoins produced by a handful of mining companies and the like. And so, I’m just saying, now, in terms of monetary history, monetary history, we have a dollar, we have a yen, we have a euro, we have renminbi, and there’s a reason for it because we do have a common economy that relies on those currencies. “

But this is precisely the argument used by Monero adopters: indeed, even Bitcoin mining industry is heavily centralised due to ASICS, and Monero price is insensitive to the latest total centralised exchanges delisting due to there is a whole economy of prohibited chemical compounds are being traded directly for Monero.

Apart of all the jokes, people, recognise, Bitcoin is not a cryptocurrency anymore, if even Gensler uses arguments against Bitcoin, copy-pasted from Monero evangelists.

Share this at your social media, tell all your friends in real life, and remember the fact: despite tiny tail emission designed to support real life’s growing economy, total coin supply of Monero will remain less than total coin supply of Bitcoin till year 2040, whole 16 years of lesser inflation!

I fully support monero, i think im about to be a 1 coiner finally. Ngl im kinda poor. Buuut My question is, how will we know the value of XMR when its no longer on any exchanges. The whole 1xmr=1xmr thing would work but knowing the value of a single coin compaired to fiat is a important aspect to me. Have a good day :)

How is the state of the art of the DEXes right now? Is there any ETA or development timeline?

I really have no idea, do they come together with quantum computers and flying mercedes?

Will they really work with digital fiat like SEPA? Non custodial, decentralized and zero knowledge? Or are they just a Frankenstein copypaste of Bisq?

If somebody has information it would be a pleasure to get an update about DEX!
