I don't think I've used desktop icons for over 10 years
Same. I actually get grossed out by a desktop with anything on it.
desktop icons get in the way of my anime wallpapers
exactly. i've got this beautiful screen, why would I want to clutter it with random icons.
Only other things I nowadays accept beside my wallpapers are widgets which add cute little animated figures to my desktop (which I arranged as a frame around the wallpaper-space).
