A New South Wales police officer unlawfully arrested a man, choked him, made offensive comments and tried to delete the man’s recording of the incident, an investigation by the police watchdog has found.

It recommended that two police officers involved be dismissed from the force, and said it would seek advice from the director of public prosecutions about whether they should be charged.

See how this plays out I guess ?

Is there a law for abuse of authority?

In Sweden we have a crime called "Tjänstefel", which translates to "Misconduct in public office", which is used to prosecute government officials, usually police and security guards, for not following the rules.

Yes there is, he will likely face the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission, an independent body, and be investigated internally by NSW police. Fucking with evidence is also a big no no and cops have been charged for attempting to destroy body cam footage among other things before. If NSWPol refer him to DPP he is likely cooked.
