This reasoning is dumb at best and pro-consumerist at worst.
Companies aren’t producing emissions in isolation for shits and giggles or because they’ve got a magic machine that creates money + emissions. They’re producing them in the act of creating stuff that you buy.
Memes like this promote the idea that you can keep living it large whilst blaming The Corporations for providing what you’re paying for; and by extension giving you permission to keep buying from them.
Corporations lobby and manipulate to get the system where they can do so. To pretend it’s anything but the will of a few is naive.
Both, its both. Shitty consumers with gas guzzlers that throw away their consumer electronics every year and use single use plastics on one side and shitty corporations that buy corrupt officials to make sure that there are no alternatives to a wastefull lifestyle on the other side.
They also make sure regulations aren't implemented.
Like with this legislation in Germany that was blocked because the Bauernverband lobbied hard
