Um how did I not know you kept an aquarium? I love neocaridina. We don't cull our shrimp tanks so we've got the full rainbow at this point, but I try to separate the prettier color morphs into their own tanks to pass on those traits.
I just finally took the plunge with caridina shrimp for the first time and it's been super rewarding. I added a mix of black and red crystal shrimp in a blackwater setup with my licorice gourami. They're slightly more sensitive than cherries and require a little more planning to get right, but the difficulty is greatly exaggerated.
Any fish or just inverts?
Same, I don't have the heart, so while I started with high grade reds (fire red I think?) there are a few lower grades in there now (like the male in the picture.)
I have a clown killifish pair in there too. I was assured that they were safe with shrimp and so far I've had them for a year they haven't eaten them
I haven't tried killies yet! My wife is planning on getting some once she upgrades tanks. She keeps some spotted dwarf rainbowfish in her dedicated shrimp breeder and their numbers are doing well.
