I downloaded the movie after seeing it in theatre to once again enjoy it from the comfort of my home. Seeing 2160p, I thought it's going to be a webcam rip but the title says webrip. Where is this leaked from that has Dolby Vision on a movie still in theatre?

I cannot believe how insignificantly low my power draw is when seeding about 200 Linux ISOs on my Ryzen 5700G system with four 4TB SSDs.

Some time ago, I made a post in which I wanted your input on how I could decrease power^[https://programming.dev/post/47150919]. Well, this is the result of turning on all those various energy saving options in the BIOS and some undervolting (all cores set to -30).

Oh, and I also took out all but two chassi fans: the exhaust fan behind the CPU and one above the CPU.

I did try replacing the Gold certified PSU with a Platinum one, but the Platinum one ended up in my gaming rig because the Gold one had more SATA "outlets" and I'm going to need them soon, as the combined Linux ISOs now take up 14TB (and I'm going to continue using SSDs until shit hits the remaining fans).

Thank you people!

After decades of living in a linux-FOSS world, I noticed these games at a 2nd-hand street market:

  • Starcraft (few different versions/themes)
  • Age of Empires (few different versions/themes)
  • Civilization

They were a dollar each, so why not. I grabbed. Got home, installed win7 on a machine someone dumped on a curb, but could not install any of the games b/c I live offline. Fucking hell.

When I last played Starcraft well over a decade ago, I lived online and probably thought nothing of it. But it seems clear this shitty requirement is an anti-sharing policy because these games do not inherently need Internet. You can play against the machine or on a LAN. It’s not just the elitist exclusive WAN requirement that pisses me off.. there’s a privacy issue too. And what happens when I enter the product key of a used CD? They probably have a tolerance on how many times that can happen, perhaps dependant on whether the hardware changes. Fuck the nannying.

Also consider that Blizzard and Microsoft servers are not going to run forever. They can pull the plug at any time and then no one can install their game. Should be illegal to make installation needlessly dependant on a service. Forced obsolescence.

Some of these games also require a CD to be inserted, which means you must have a fucking noisey CD drive attached at all times. Back when these games were made it was no big deal because all laptops and desktops had CD drives. Not anymore. I’m mostly annoyed by having to insert the disc, wait for it to spin, then I have to hear the loud spin as I play which also wastes power. So I installed Alcohol 120 to image the Warcraft 3 disc (which I still had from yrs past). It has 3 different versions of the crack for the particular shitty scheme used on WC3. None of the images work.

Obviously if I want to play these games I will need warez versions. How good are those dodgy distros these days? I can imagine some are just the original content but you still enter a product key (which I have anyway). But if they still need a WAN that won’t cut it for me. Do the warez versions overcome all these issues? Are they still in circulation?

Alternatively, I should ask, have there been any versions of these games repackaged and re-released for the retro gamers which don’t impose the shitty protections and server dependencies?

If not, I must say unlicensed cracked versions would be the most ethical ones:

  • designed obsolescence thwarted
  • privacy kept
  • more inclusive (offline ppl and those without CD drives)
  • better UX (no fiddling with discs and hearing the spin)

Hello, since it's complicated to index DHTs, I figured it'd be more efficient to build an index of fingerprints from real data once.

So I've been collecting releases hashes for this index. It can be used for various purposes:

  • check the integrity of your own files (bit rot is a real thing)
  • identify BTv2 torrent files that contain specific files (a database of torrent files is required)
  • locate alive IPFS swarms to join more easily (no need to read all your data multiple times to recompute various CIDs yourself)

The collection contains around 1K releases and weights 40MB. I've prioritized scene Bluray rips of movies (1080p / 2160p). No infohash will be included, as these are not reproducible enough.

I'm using a basic script to add a new release (filename must match the official release name). I'm using others to discover scene releases in a filesystem; retrieve official release names from files using the srrdb api (crc32 search); collect torrents from Prowlarr and H&R them (although I'd prefer crowd-source directly from the community!).

The index is stored on git to allow collaboration. It is hosted using Radicale to avoid centralization and reduce hosting pressures.

If you are interested, join and add your own hashes to the collection in Radicle patches! (see instructions in the README)

Let me know what you think, suggest improvements or discuss similar projects you know about!

Hello mates, Does anyone have any tips to share in improving subliminal subtitle search and download? I have trouble in finding pt-BR subtitlesd with it, and, at the moment, I can't run a bazzarr server where my jellyfin is stored.

Hello everyone, I wish to keep the 4K HDR/DV files in my Windows PC/Android tablet and stream it on my Android TV (or even on PC, Android tablet and Android phone). My Android TV has just 32GB of storage so big files can't be transferred to it. The TV, tablet and phone support HDR10/10+ and Dolby Vision in terms of HDR support and Dolby Atmos and Audio for audio support. Please help me by suggesting what should be the best course of action for this situation.

Any good music sources? (lemmy.blahaj.zone)
submitted 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) by Cattypat@lemmy.blahaj.zone to c/piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com

I know this is kind of baby pirate knowledge but ive always just used a downloader for my streaming service. I have since moved to Linux entirely (massive win BTW, patting myself on the back for that) but there is no Linux-compatible downloader for my specific service. At least not one with the bulk functionality I would like. Any downloaders for Tidal or other sources of high-quality audio, likely to have some relatively niche old death metal? I'm a nerd about the quality.

edit: Just looked at the megathread and there seems to be some tools compatible with Tidal. Regardless, are there any applications that are alternatives? I'd like to see ALL of my options <3

Anyone have any good sources for language learning software like Rosetta Stone (or anything like it, etc.)? Where to download full versions of language lessons and such? Sorry if not allowed.

Hi folks I have been hanging around here for quite a while. I was wondering if any of you know a music player that supports auto-highlighting lyrics like monochrome.tf . I have tried strawberry and fooyin but I have not got lyrics working properly. Thanks for your suggestions ( I hope this is on-topic, if not I'd be happy to remove it)

Is anybody else having trouble with Stremio over the last few days? Everything was smooth until after the weekend. Now it will barely play anything without kicking me out or crashing - external player or not.

It seems like there is a connection error, maybe?

I will mention I did renew the real debrid subscription which seems fishy - I used to use TorrentioRD+ but it doesn't recognise my subscription so I can only use Torrentio.

Any advice would be great because the internet is kinda useless.

Edit: I went the path of least resistance and changed the API key and reinstalled TorrentioRD. That seems to have fixed the streaming problem for now and also the problem I had streaming in an external player.

Thanks for all your responses. I learned some good stuff. (Please keep responding/replying if you have other ideas as surely other people will have similar problems).

We have Stremio for movies and TV, which works flawlessly by pulling from different sources (add-ons) including torrents into one clean UI. But when it comes to music, the options are either paying for Spotify/Tidal or dealing with clunky, manual setups.

I’ve seen apps like ViMusic or Innertune, but they are mostly just YouTube Music frontends. Soulseek is a p2p service and the usability is horrible.
I'm talking about a true, modular aggregator. That uses torrents and lossless databases.
