I got a flyer in the snail mail the other day that said "surf fiber internet will soon be available to you". My Mom has fiber internet in another state, and I know it's fast for her (albeit she has verizon fios). I live in the USA Midwest Chicago area- and I have had comcast xfinity for 20+ years here. They are a ripoff. I am charged 88.95 a month USD. I have no TV or any other services other than basic internet (I think it's the second lowest speed- they may call it "performance internet")

What I did notice (and this may be a coincidence) was that they must be doing some construction on my street because they made survey marks on my property and painted where the gas line and water lines are. Could this be because they are putting in the fiber cables?

Thinking of switching but want to get opinions of others. Besides cost reasons, comcast can suck off because they are basically part of other hollywood support corporations that are part of ACE. (this is the other reason I want to do it)

GenP and monkrus don't work on windows on ARM. It comes with an emulator but something about it just doesnt seem to work. Is there any other known working way to pirate modern adobe products on an ARM pc? If not, what alternatives are there?

I posted an updated guide on r/Adobe Zii a bit ago. It got taken down last week and I re-posted it here: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/43935446 Super grateful that this community exists. I posted to r/Adobe Zii that my guide was taken down and warning that it looks like reddit is cracking down on piracy (I am guessing an Adobe spokesperson is abusing reddit's copyright reporting system). Now today reddit emails me saying that I received another copyright warning for posting that my other post was removed: https://www.reddit.com/r/AdobeZii/comments/1kioy3i/reddit_took_down_my_adobe_zii_guide/

I decide hey lets try and appeal as there was not any copyrighted material in my post about my guide being removed. Turns out they want my full name, address, and other identifying info to send to the copyright complainant. Not doing that.

Just disappointed as I've actively used reddit for years and love all the communities on this place. Seems like its slowly going down hill. Guess I should have seen that coming with the whole API shenanigans last year.

TL;DR reddit sucks and it does not appear any way to appeal without giving Adobe my info

VPN vs I2Pd (lemm.ee)

Just wanted to know what you guys consider to be better when torrenting. Is it I2P network or a VPN like Mullvad, Proton or IVPN?

Here's my problem: I wrote a satirical political novel (myself, not with AI) and then I generated an audiobook using AI, read by a famous (infamous?) politician, because it cheekily works well.

I would love to distribute/sell this audiobook, but I can't: Many platforms (like Spotify) won't allow AI-generated voices without an LPF file created by ElevenLabs or Google Play Books. And there's no way for me to legitimately get that LPF file, because ElevenLabs & GPB have their own restrictions. They won't let me generate my audiobook in the voice of this politician, even if it's explicitly satirical.

So... I'm looking for a way to fake an LPF file that can fool Spotify. Does this exist? Anyone know how?

Thank you Lemmy!

I am wondering if there is a client for Youtube Music for WearOS. I already know that ReVanced supports modifying YTM APKs, but I do not know of a way to do this for the WearOS app. Is there something that I could use to use Youtube Music on WearOS without ads?

10 years ago I went to private trackers that had extensive collections, everything with dozens of seeds. And you coukd seed whatever you download and it just wouldn't get downloaded. It would use up your hdd space on the seedbox whipe nobody could download them either as tgat would wreck their ratios and get tgem banned.

I was so disgusted I never even tried join otger private trackers, time wasters the lot of them.

Also I've seen some disgusting thieves SELL ratio fixing at outrageous prices.

Of course intellectual property is stupid garbage idea. But pirates selling shit is so much worse. Even worse than the continued demonic existance of Disney.

Another strategy was to downloaded whatever just got posted and seed that before there were too many seeds.

A kind of ratio pump and dump rugpull.

Such shitty behaviour enabled by the pretense that space and bandwidth are limited ressources and then waste both of them to create an invisible paywall.!

On southparkuncensored.com I provided the banned/censored South Park episodes, previously using MEGA before they were removed due to Paramount copyright takedown requests.

Now I'm looking for non DMCA compliant alternative hosting platforms that support streaming/embedding and don't use ads. I'm willing to pay.

Comrades, liberals, and the unaligned misers lend me your eyes.

Computer gaming is increasingly unaffordable, in Australia second hand previous gen GPUs are like a million billion dollars. Games increasingly look like dogshit due to stochastic rendering methods and reliance on advanced lighting methods that require rendering at high resolutions for good performance.

Games are also skyrocketing in price, along with dark patterns becoming ubiquitous. The age of making a good system for 1k aud once every 8 years or so is over. Consequently I am wondering about the economics of a seedbox + renting a high performance server and streaming video games to a cheap minipc that is connected to my TV.

Unfortunately in Australia compute is expensive as hell, and we are far away from places with cheap compute. To the point where light speed limitations means rtts of like 200-300 ms

I'm curious if anyone has experience in similar conditions, either combining a seedbox and high performance computer, or having both and spinning up the HPC when you want to waste some time.

How has it worked out? what genres work and what don't? has it been cost effective?

If this is stretching the limits of relating to piracy removal won't offend me. This seems the most relevant, but it is more into hardware and using pirated software (since shit is unaffordable) than piracy directly.

seedbox gaming (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Decided to try grabbing my first game from fitgirl and all was good until running the setup.exe. Since I have a seedbox nothing could be downloaded because the .exe file couldn't find the bins on my computer. How do I go about pulling the game from my seedbox to computer? Do I grab a private file sharing app and move the files that way or just download every game file from the seedbox to the computer?
