Fuck yes, I can finally get back paddles and full Steam Input support without selling my kidney. Eat your heart and your expensive ass DualSense Edge out, Sony

That's weird, I already could bind them (8bitdo ultimate 2 wireless connected via Bluetooth). Gyro also works on the beta update.

The only feature missing at this point is the ability to wake up my steam deck LCD with Bluetooth :P

Edit: oh no, the update reversed the button glyphs, and if I change it to "Nintendo mode" it reverses the functionality as well lmao. Oh well, hope they change it back.

Great news, this was the reason I hadn't bought an 8bitdo, the back paddles would have been useless without the ability to rebind them on steam, now I'll probably get one at some point.

Oh this is fantastic. I can finally bind the paddle buttons with Steam.

Now we just need Valve to convince 8bitdo to start working with lvfs again

That's cool! I love my 8bitdo controller.

FlyDigi Vader 4 Pro now working for me. A few things that are needed:

  • Controller must be in PC/Dinput mode, blue led (hold O + A to switch)
  • Don't enable the built in gyro mode in the Windows app as it might cause problems
  • Udev rule:

KERNEL=="hidraw*", ATTRS{idVendor}=="04b4", ATTRS{idProduct}=="2412", MODE="0666"

(get the idVendor and idProduct from lsusb if you have a different controller)

  • Some (patched) versions of xpad/xpadneo might conflict with it. If you're using the stock versions it should be okay.
  • Your user might need to be in the input group.

One last thing that may or may not be needed is that I installed the SpaceStation app on Windows to test some things. It started working after that but I can't recall if I force reloaded the udev rule so it might have just been the reboot that fixed it.

Anyway, now I have gyro + all extra buttons working with Steam Input.

I would appreciate wayland support in proton and a switch to use it per game.

I mean, they're kinda working on it. It's just not mature enough. Still many edgecases upstream Wine has to implement.

Some users are reporting gyro working for some of the controllers. It's early days anyway (I tested it and it's all broken for me on the Vader 4 Pro).
