I would like to argue that Jareth is an arch Fey, and also a metaphorical representation of Sarah’s fear and desire of becoming an adult.

https://labyrinth.fandom.com/wiki/Jareth_the_Goblin_King

Because here’s where I have to do a deep dive.

Sarah’s mother left her father for a famous actor. There is a freeze frame moment at the beginning of Labyrinth where you can pause, and read an article that talks about this.

That actor that her mother is currently fucking?

Is played by David Bowie and is essentially David Bowie.

Jareth looks exactly like her mother’s current husband/BF.

Look at his dialogue.

“Just fear me, love me, do as I say, and I will be your slave”?

It’s almost like he’s a patron courting his warlock.

I’ll do anything you asked me to but you’re only asked me for what I want to do anyway.

I’m gonna skip right to the end at the end of the movie all of the Goblins all of the good beans in the bed beans are having a party in Sarah’s room, but Jareth isn’t there.

Because he represents some thing that cannot be controlled only surrendered to.

It’s a dark view of sexuality it’s a dark view of adulthood it’s giving up yourself.

Just like the trash woman was the dark version of childhood, refusing to grow.

The entire point of the thing at the end was that Sarah wasn’t remembering the line that her power was as great as Jareths. She was realizing that it was always true.

He is the thing that lurks in the darkness, but because hers is the imagination he dwells in ….

She is the darkness.

And thus, she, is the queen of the goblins. …

I’m high and I’m very passionate about this movie but thank you so much for this meme!

I did that once, it was pretty awesome. I started out as a simple household maidservant at level 1 and by level 30 (this was 4th Edition D&D) I was the Immortal Serpent Queen, Empress of Endless Flowers, High Priestess of the Temple of Freedom.

I managed to keep my sense of humility, though.

Magic Dance is unstoppable at this level.
