Lol move to piefed its way better anyway
Jeez, what did you do? Claim that capitalism has some actual benefits or something?
Rule 2 is "mod is a little bitch"
Worse, admin. Say what you will about the .world admins. Or most administrators for that matter. They tend not to micromanage and police thought. Only intervening when necessary. If YPTB were a person, it'd be him.
Yup.
Welcome to the club. That Ai simping waste of air banned me a while ago for calling people delusional that think using Ai is “seizing the means of production”
I have that whole bootlicking instance blocked, go ahead ban me as much as you want little Ai slopper.
How the fuck is Ai seizing the means of production. Lunatic.
Well, it's seizing it for the capital class. Doesn't that count?
AI simping is crazy, got a link of them doing it?
Same here. Blocked that shithole a looooong time ago. I just thought it was funny that this coward got so butthurt about having been called out in a comment thread that has nothing to do with his little shrine to boot-licking authoritarianism, that he retaliated by banning me from his little collection of smug fart-sniffing communities.
LMAO! I’m seriously feeling some empathic embarrassment for this clown and I’m mostly dead inside. That how pathetic this fool is.
Congrats
Boycott lemmyml
Boycott lemmy in general, it's their software and we don't need them in the fediverse.
Boycott as in don't donate and block the instance as a whole and make it irrelevant by contributing to off-.ml versions of comms
Tell that to the other 2 idiots that replied to me who tried to downplay the importance of not using Lemmy
Not sure how to react to your comment, given that I read it through Lemmy. I came here after leaving reddit about a year ago or two, but it seems like we on Lemmy are the bad ones?
I didn't particularly notice it, but have I fallen with a bad crowd, in your opinion? .ml instances and the occasional troll aside, it seems much more constructive and grounded than reddit 😬
Lemmy as a software and the dev instances (ml and grad) can be taken as a bad crowd, yes.
But what matters is the fediverse, which has nothing to do with the lemmy devs, so you can move to piefed or kbin (mbin? i keep forgetting which one is the active one) and still be a part of everything fediverse, including the reddit alternatives.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. While I'm aware that there are other paths into the fediverse besides Lemmy, maybe you could walk me through as to why you assert that Lemmy as a software (or probably rather their developers, I guess) can be taken as a bad crowd?
And join all 5 of you on piefed? Jokes aside, who cares which open source software backend for ActivityPub you're on? If any propaganda ever makes it into server software, it'll just get forked by someone that's not brainwashed. Server and who's hosting it matters much more imnho.
And join all 5 of you on piefed?
Piefed instances still read Lemmy communities, so it wouldn't make any difference
even as a symbolic move it would mean something
Always have!
I notice you're on world, and I want to mention that World explicitly does support the Lemmy.ML admins including financially.
When I complained about the recent banner on World which is asking for donations which go directly to ML and pay the salaries the known pro-war, pro-genocide, and Transphobic Dessalines and Nutomic, the Lemmy.World Support moderator had this to say:
"So they’ve provided you a solution to your problem, but you don’t want to use it to solve your problem, and you’re mad at them because you’re still using the thing you don’t want to use.
Got it."
The fediverse does not need Lemmy, including Lemmy.ML, Hexbear, and Lemmy.World, those instances are a sickness that the fediverse will survive.
Spread the word and consider moving over to a PieFed instance.
The banner went up on all Lemmy instances. Not just world.
And it went up last year, too, but when I asked them what they were doing to prevent or remove it, if it just somehow flew under their radar, the World team responded by thanking those horrible people for creating a solution to our problem.
And I was right there with you criticizing it as well. Maybe I missed it. But I didn't see any announcement from them about it this year or any show of support. Just an automated software trigger for the banner on all Lemmy instances.
You did, actually. I quoted it in the comment you replied to, and I included a link to it. You saw it.
No, I legitimately hadn't. And upon going back and looking, it's not what you claim it to be. But you are more than welcome to continue pyrrhicly downvoting. I'm sure that will convince someone you're right.
I’m seriously thinking about it. Do you know if the Voyager app allows piefied?
I’m on voyager.
It’s not perfect yet the modlogs don’t show up.
I got signed into the same one you use. However this sub shows completely empty when I use it. No posts.
To be clear the solution I was referring to was Piefed.
"So they’ve provided you a solution to your problem, but you don’t want to use it to solve your problem, and you’re mad at them because you’re still using the thing you don’t want to use.
Got it."
Tell them you drive a VW but don't support Hitler.
What is the difference with PieFed and how is the app ecosystem?
Even when I'm on the phone I always use the browser so idk about the apps, the Piefed API is 95% similar to Lemmy.
Piefed is written in Flask which is similar to Django that I think but I'm not certain Lemmy is built on. The practical difference is the Piefed developers aren't the Lemmy developers, so you can use Piefed without inadvertently supporting horrible people.
Lemmy is written in Rust.
Piefed has a lot of nice features for both casual users (e.g. multi-community comments, threadiverse link redirection, better mute/blocking tools) and regular posters/mods (scheduled posts, flairs, tags).
I use a mix of their mobile WebUI (which is generally good, but does need some polish if you post a lot) and Voyager. Mainline features work well on Voyager, but they haven't implemented many Piefed specific features.
@davel@lemmy.ml is a little bitch.
Also, if he bans me from a single .ml community, I’ll pull my donation to the lemmy devs.
It’s what everyone should do to be honest. That sack of shit doesn’t deserve support.
I already cancelled my donation to the Lemmy devs, long long ago.
I do agree with other people here, lemmy.world is also shit. I was just thinking about this whole conversation earlier today, featuring a lemmy.world mod overtly lying about how and why they were banning people who didn't want propaganda in their feed but not banning the propaganda user (using such sterling logic as "we never got reports on this spammy user before" and then doing a Dale Gribble smoke-bomb when asked whether they'd gotten previous reports on the users they did decide to ban, who were complaining about the spam/propaganda).
*High-five

Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!
What is a Tankie?
Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.
(caution of biased source)
Basic Rules:
Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.
Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.
Apologia — (Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.
Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.
Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.
Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post, rather than engaging in unrelated arguments.
Brigading — If you're here because this community was linked in another thread, please refrain from voting, commenting or manipulating the post in any way, this includes alt accounts. All votes are public, and if you are found to be brigading, you will be permanently banned.
You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.
