I've got a few recommendations regarding presidents.

Gimsons Presidents: Brief Lives from Washington to Trump - Each President get a few pages, and whilst it's not as 'hard hitting as some of this list, it does have some very fun writing, and really nice art as well.

The Presidents by C-SPAN - They take the most recent C-SPAN Presidential poll and dedicate time to each president based on their ranking. A lot of it is transcribed from audio interviews, but it's still a solid read if you're looking to get a grip on these guys.

The Presidents: 250 Years of American Leadership (By Ian Dale) Another round up, but this is perhaps more..... current than the C-SPAN book as it takes newly created essays written exclusively for this book.

The Complete Book of US Presidents - More of an encyclopaedia than anything. It's massive, but it covers everything from First Lady's to Inaugural speaches.

Could probably find a few more if you're interested?

Impeachment by Jon Meacham - Read this one last year and it was likely my favourite read of the year. It lays out the case against each of the three (at the time) Presidents to have been impeached (or in Nixon's case, soon to be Impeached). Absolutely fascinating.

Leadership in Turbulent Times by Doris Kearns Goodwin - This one is more personal. It focuses on three Presidents, their careers, how they came to be where they were and how their 'biggest' moments came to define them.

That's all I've read so far, although I've only been 'interested' in this as a subject for about three years. Hope it helps.

Check out Blackshirts and Reds, by Michael Parenti. It's an amazing book about the history of the relationship/battle between fascism and communism in the world over the 20th century (spoiler alert, fascism won).

October by China Miéville is a great telling of the Russian revolution.
