I find many Japanese game titles (in English) cringy. Especially the excessive use of certain words like "re", "code" and "zero". This seems to have gotten worse in recent years.

I guess it is supposed to be cool or edgy for some people.

Like it or hate it, it's certainly an aesthetic.

I feel like it's predominant in media which has a sci-fi premise, such as

.hack//SIGN

or

NieR Replicantâ„¢ ver.1.22474487139

Within that context it feels thematically fitting at least, so I can't say I have anything against it.

I'm put-off by it enough to lose interest in the game before watching the trailer. I don't want to have to consult a wiki to figure out the order of a series when it's named like that
