I bought a SSD external hard-drive specifically so I could run my own Monero node.

The first 140gb downloaded in a single day. Now, when I open the wallet, it says "Daemon is synchronized" for about a minute, before the progress bar drops to zero and the "Daemon blocks remaining" message pops up, currently with 319,000+ blocks remaining. After the initial 140gb over a day or so, it's now inching along at about 10gb per day.

Is this normal? Do I need to fix it, or do something to speed it up, or prune it?

I'm worried I'm going to wait all this time then the blockchain is just going to be corrupt anyway because it took so long to download, which is what happened to me before I got a SSD.
