i uninstalled wefwef to get the new icon in the last update, i had it installed as a pwa and it would show up in my app drawer like an actual installed app

now i click the same install button from chrome but it only lets me add it as a shortcut? i can't get it to install as an actual app

anyone else have this?

Noticed the same thing too. Would've preferred having it show up in my app drawer. No idea if it's because of chrome or wefwef tho sorry.

I'm pretty sure it's chrome since Samsung internet let me install it to the apps screen (but it's buggy and wefwef doesn't work right)

Checked with Samsung Internet too. As you said, it's buggy.

Also, minor issue, but the system status bar no longer matches the app colour ( its dark grey regardless of light or dark theme ). Wasn't the case before.

Yep, could be because chrome won't install it properly... :C

I think it's been like that for a while. I self-host a lot of webapps that have PWAs, and they only ever show up as a shortcut with the Chrome badge in the corner. I can't tell a difference at all between "Create shortcut" and "Install {app}" options anymore.

Not sure when it changed, but it used to give you an actual, un-badged icon and appeared in the app drawer as you described. I think that's been at least a year ago, but that's just a best guess.

Definitely hasn't been that long, i had wefwef installed to the app drawer and that app only started existing last month

feel like it's some weird chrome bug but it could also just be an issue with the last update of the app

Same. I had it installed in my app drawer, without the badge just this morning. Updated to get the new icon and it has been a chrome shotcut since then.

Definitely not deleting the other pwas I have installed now since they're still in the app drawer and all

I don't use Chrome but Firefox, and PWAs are just really inconsistent. I think it's probably an Android/OS/home screen thing rather than Chrome specifically.

Sometimes it can happen... Delete the shortcut and restart chrome, then open wefwef page in a new tab....

Open https://wefwef.app on chrome & click on vertical line(3dots) on top right corner.. You can see install option, select and tap on install. That's all.

I've always stuck with dedicated apps, so I wouldn't know sorry.
