It seems like a small thing, but the one person I'd think would ask me the most never really does

My wife and I try to ask each other this question every day, along with “what was your favorite part of the day.” It doesn’t always happen. But we make an honest effort.

Daily... There is a bot in this community that asks me every day!

How often do you ask them?

[-] kennuckies@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I like to ask every day, but I usually just get one word answers and then sometimes they'll ask how my day was. One comment here has a totally different perspective on that question, though, and it's got me thinking maybe they just don't like it.

Never. But I also don't do anything to have much to say even if someone did.

Not very often. My bestie and my partner ask every now and then, I ask daily.

Almost daily actually…

[-] Nemo@midwest.social 5 points 1 year ago

Way too often.

It's in the past, I don't need to have feelings about it anymore. Please don't ask me to form an opinion about a day I'll never think of again.

Interesting perspective and definitely something for me to consider!

Just today I jokingly complained to my husband that he always asks our cats how their day was, but he never asks me how my day went. He said "well I know your day was shit, so why bother." Checkmate.

My wife and I ask each other every day we work.

[-] shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Not as often as one might like.

[-] Whitebrow@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

About once a month. If I’m lucky.

Same: rarely from the people who really matter to me. It's almost always the cashier at the grocery store or the bike store. Nice people, but I don't know if they really care what the answer is, they're doing they're best to be nice.

On that note… how did your day go?

[-] kennuckies@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

It's so kind of you to ask! Yesterday was awesome, I'm pup sitting for my sister so I get to go on early morning walks.

How did your day go?

[-] Eggyhead@artemis.camp 1 points 1 year ago

Sorry for the late reply. I got a new job and the work load is pretty overwhelming. It’s fun, but there is a lot of prep work and very little in terms of help or remuneration on that end.

I don't check every day, but I think the bot here never forgets to ask. I don't want to share with it though. Y'know, Skynet became self aware in 1997.

We always say goodbye with a kiss in the morning, always greet with a kiss in the evening, I'm more likely to ask about husband and kids' day than vice versa because kids are students and husband does sales, so their days are more variable.

I would not worry about it if that's all it is - build the routine you like. If it's a sign your person is self centered then maybe worry but maybe they just don't want this question themselves so don't think you do. I personally don't care, because communication in general is good.
