Reading such articles, I feel like a hermit or something. I never stopped doing these things they describe as "going back to" and thinking about it, there really isn't any such algorithm I ever used or felt a need for.

Tl;dr: reject the new gatekeepers of culture and embrace the previous gatekeepers of culture. Sure, they’re all corporate shills, but the old ones were older.

I took it to mean that they were human rather than automated curators.
