Hi-Rez and shutting down games, name me a more iconic pairing.
Fucking awful. I loved DKO and haven't found a replacement for it yet. It had such good potential but they fucked up initially marketing it (the whole pay to access a f2p beta with the ability to get it free outright from giveaways) and then refusing to be transparent about updates and future dev for over a year just letting it slowly die.

That's par for the course for Hi-Rez... Realm Royale was a smash hit when it was in alpha, and they ignored the fanbase and kept messing it up more each update until it faded into obscurity.
Yeah I'm never going to play any of their games now in case I enjoy them.
It's surprising to me that they didn't shutdown Tribes 3 Rivals as well. Can't imagine it makes them much money at this point
I think that's a different company.
Technically yes. However, the company buildings are directly across the street, the studio behind this game used to be part of Hirez , the founder of both is the same person and ofcourse the Tribes franchise is property of Hirez. It really seems like these companies are the same entity under the hood
I'd be surprised if they had net positive income on Tribes 3. A lot of veteran gamers of the series saw who was really running development and decided to stay away. Once bitten, twice shy. The writing was on the wall that it was a dead game back in June.
I remember playing realm royale. It was a nice little fortnite alternative that felt way more casual. Sad to hear it’s gone
