Fuck she's cool
AOC 2028
AOC for Speaker! Congress needs fixing too.
The Dems definitely need someone with a bite in that position. AOC would be a good choice, indeed.
Today, yeah, I'll push my rep to vote for her in 2026. Goodness knows he won't be...
Dems would need a majority first. Then they'd have to agree to get rid of Jeffries (who has only been Minority Leader at this point and unlikely to let go without a fight).
I swear, this site is full of people who have no fucking clue how US politics works in the real world.
I want a sandwich! Fuck, that would mean I would have to go get bread, cheese and other fixings. Guess I can't have a sandwich because I know how making lunch works in the real world.
No, it would be more like "I want a sandwich, but I have no idea what a sandwich actually is"
More like Dems need to stop self sabotaging themselves for fear of not appeasing their corporate masters. Everytime a good dem candidate that is actually for the people gets popular they get ousted because they are actually "left" not center right.
I'd take democratic any day though compared to hard Reich maga shitheads
“I swear, this site is full of people who have no fucking clue how US politics works in the real world.”
My take away is that non-USians seem to understand politics better; generally. I know that’s a gross generalisation but the amount of US people who think “team blue” is both liberal and left wing is just sad…
Its true a lot of us arent the most politically educated, but that ones not an example. "Liberal" in an American context is usually referring to social liberalism, not economic. Using it in an economic sense doesnt make sense in a country where public healthcare is on the furthest left end of the overton window
But on the WORLD wide web nobody should default to one country’s erroneous understanding of a word.
I have a hunch she'll be in prison before that happens.
You can run from Prison
It's what Trump would do.
i'm ready.
even have some (unofficial) campaign gear.
That took me entirely too long. I had to question why the hell you took a picture of your computer looking at this post. Presumably from your phone, which you presumably uploaded the picture from, instead of just taking a screenshot.
This is one of those rare examples that would've actually benefited from a red circle.
spoiler
It's the "AOC" brand monitor.
How can the "free speech" party so consistently get it wrong when it comes to the First Amendment?
"the law only applies when and where and how we say it does"
"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
Free speech is a code for hate speech. It really is that simple.
She needs to keep going. She needs to speak to them the same way they speak to everyone else. She needs to use every bit of her position to mother fuck these cowards at every turn. Call them out, and show their ignorance every single fucking time and in every single fucking forum.
She needs to demand her coworkers do the same. She needs to shame them when they don't or when they compromise. The time for pleasantries is long past.
If she does, others will follow, but it will be dangerous, so I understand if she just keeps doing what she is doing. It is at least miles more than most of them.
Bla bla bla, man shouts at clouds, but no one listens.
Likely can’t read the Constitution because they can’t read cursive.
It’s AOC with the steel chair!
My god, the pressure she is experiencing right now…
She and Bernie are carrying the entire weight of the opposition party and therefore the future of the country. I don't envy them.
I stand with them
I've always wonder why the US uses a title from Imperial Russia to refer to the heads of special activity like drug czar and border czar. No seriously, any ideas why?
It’s a term that indicates a leader, and its origins are thousands of years before imperial Russia.
It’s a derivative of the Latin “Caesar”, and many cultures have used the term (or its derivatives) to indicate a leader. Pre-Weimar Germany was led by the Kaiser, a German adaptation of the title.
Right, but its specifically a slavic/russian derivation of the word ceasar.
It’s also the shortest and most easily recognizable, which is most likely why it caught on. The fact that it’s a Russian/Slavic derivative is probably just coincidence.
It's one of those projecting things the conservatives like to do. It's stupid, and needs to stop imo.
It's an unofficial title given to those empowered to make broad decisions for US, UK, and even Canadian policy.
still weird, and still tied to a bloodstained legacy for many americans of eastern european legacy
This is relatively new, it started with Obama I believe. It was sort of a joke that went non-ironic at some point.
Well before that. I was going to say Reagan, but that’s wrong too
Damn, I wasn't aware of that at all. The war on drugs really fucked this country up.
No it started under Bush Jr. with the Drug Czar position.
That's right, I remember that now...
don't start a war of words with someone infinitely more intelligent than you are, mr homan.
His name sounds like he's a ferengi from star trek. "Listen here, female hoo-man". Kinda makes sense, they are like ferengi.
"on her X social media account" "hosted on her Facebook page."
This person is part of the establishment.
Social media contributes to the polarization of public discourse and should absolutely be boycotted. However, this polarization manifests in various ways, and your comment is a good example of this. When everything becomes a purity test, we fall into extremism. To counter the rise of fascism, you must be willing to unite with those who do not share your opinions.
I've seen her on Tic Tok too, she's going to where the people are.
Yes she's going where the votes are, that's what politicians do.
So your comment could be reduced to "politician is politician", nice.
