With all the news, I couldn't find the information. All I know is from a Lemmy user who said Signal stated they won't connect with Whatsapp. I really want to swap off a Meta-owned app, but cannot lose access to the people who use Whatsapp.

If anyone knows, I'll appreciate you sharing the knowledge.

I'll also appreciate the crowd of "if someone won't download an app just to speak to you, they're not worth being contacted" not commenting their oh so useful wisdom. ;)

The development of a robust continuous time crystal (CTC) in an electron-nuclear spin system represents a significant advancement in understanding the behavior of matter under specific conditions. This research, led by Alex Greilich and a team from TU Dortmund University, demonstrates a CTC in a tailored semiconductor, specifically an electron-nuclear spin system made of indium gallium arsenide. The CTC exhibits periodic auto-oscillations in response to continuous, time-independent driving, showcasing a novel phase of matter with potential for unprecedented studies on systems with nonlinear interactions

At the upcoming SXSW Conference... Honda will give attendees a chance to try out a new mobility device... specifically designed for mixed reality entertainment experiences.

Users can steer... without the use of their hands — they simply have to lean into one direction to move forwards, backwards, sideways or diagonally.

The “revolutionary” air-breathing engine could, in theory, lift an aircraft from a runway to more than 30km (18.6 miles) into the stratosphere and continuously accelerate it to 16 times the speed of sound.

At this velocity, even the longest intercontinental flights could take just one or two hours while consuming less fuel compared with conventional jet engines.

A judge has dismissed a complaint from a parent and guardian of a girl, now 15, who was sexually assaulted when she was 12 years old after Snapchat recommended that she connect with convicted sex offenders.

According to the court filing, the abuse that the girl, C.O., experienced on Snapchat happened soon after she signed up for the app in 2019. Through its "Quick Add" feature, Snapchat "directed her" to connect with "a registered sex offender using the profile name JASONMORGAN5660." After a little more than a week on the app, C.O. was bombarded with inappropriate images and subjected to sextortion and threats before the adult user pressured her to meet up, then raped her. Cops arrested the adult user the next day, resulting in his incarceration, but his Snapchat account remained active for three years despite reports of harassment, the complaint alleged.

Google has struck a deal with Reddit that will allow the search engine maker to train its AI models on Reddit’s vast catalog of user-generated content, the two companies announced. Under the arrangement, Google will get access to Reddit’s Data API, which will help the company “better understand” content from the site.

The deal also provides Google with a valuable source of content it can use to train its AI models. “Google will now have efficient and structured access to fresher information, as well as enhanced signals that will help us better understand Reddit content and display, train on, and otherwise use it in the most accurate and relevant ways,” the company said in a statement.
