'....I use digital and analog processes working in a variety of media. The main thread running through all my images is the human relationship with nature and the natural world portrayed with a sense of mystery and wonder. My digital works are ethereal and dreamlike with an other worldly aesthetic. I am particularly interested in flowers and plants as metaphors.I hope to transport my viewers to a world that is enchanting and mysterious....'

Each collage can be seen as the imaginary identity card of an explored rocky planet." They are all based on photographs taken from astronomy books and mainly from books by the French volcanologist Haroun Tazieff.

The first collage I made after finding square frames downstairs in my apartment, and also one of the least accomplished. I'll be posting collages from this series of 10 works from time to time, all on the theme of exoplanets and exobiology. Each collage can be seen as the imaginary identity card of an explored rocky planet. ( sorry for the poor quality )

'...Cath's process starts off on location where she takes digital photographs of the landscape.

She also takes photographs of 'textures' which can be painted or mixed media pieces or natural finds like surfaces such as rocks and bark. Some of Cath's textures are photos of peeling paint, scratched metal, rust, fabric, old paper...all sorts of unusual things....

Back in the studio she uses a digital graphics tablet to blend the landscape photography with these 'textures', building up sections to add colour, depth and form.

Each finished piece might have 10 and 20 layers of digital collage in addition to the original landscape photograph.'
