PSA for any fellow Linux CS players out there: the June 20 update to CSGO made the game crash on every launch for me until I disabled the Steam overlay. Not sure exactly what the cause was, but I suspect something with CSGO doesn't play nice with the redesigned Steam overlay.

Surf in CS2 (kbin.social)
submitted 1 year ago by Loaf@kbin.social to c/cs@kbin.social

How do you think surf will transition from CS:GO to CS2? Smoother movement? Better looking maps? I know the hardcore surfers still play on CSS, so wonder if it'll impact that as well.

Hey mods, with the subreddit back up, will you be here too or is this place now abandoned? Since I'd love to contribute to the discussions here if possible but I see zero mentions of this place in the reopening post

Article:
According to sources close to the situation, Shahar "flameZ" Shushan is in the final stage of negotiations with Team Vitality. Previously we reported that flameZ has been exploring his options as his contract with OG expired.

If nothing abruptly changes, Shushan will soon join the French organization for the upcoming Counter-Strike season. According to our information, flameZ will replace Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen in the roster.

In the past CS:GO season Vitality showed a tremendous performance. The French powerhouse managed to grab a victory at home ground, winning the last CS:GO Major, BLAST.tv Paris Major. Also, they won IEM Rio 2023 and took the second place at BLAST Premier Spring Finals.

Currently Vitality are #1 ranked team in the world both in ESL and HLTV ratings.

As you have probably noticed, r/GlobalOffensive is still private in protest, due to Reddit's recent API changes, which you can read more about in the link:

https://mashable.com/article/reddit-blackout-ceo-downplays-api-protest

Due to the lack of meaningful change, we will remain private for the time being. We will re-evaluate our stance on the 19th of June and will keep you updated in the relevant channels, as we go along with this extension.

If you wish to continue discussing CS in general you can join the Discord discord.gg/cs-2 or stay here on kbin.

Frankly, Even I hate nonsense Reddit API updates that have almost put third-party apps out of business. I'm more than happy with the two-day blackout as a mark of protest. But sealing off our subreddit forever? That's ridiculous! We're a community of just over a million. There several of us back online, yet we arent.

The mods are on some power trip, making decisions without consulting us subscribers. How about a vote? Let us have a say in this! It's an absolute mockery!

I use Reddit to unwind after a hard day's work, and this subreddit was my favorite. But remember, if you don't value us, someone else will.

Wake up from your delusion! For heaven's sake, do right by your subscribers and bring the subreddit back online!

Edit: @mods, you are yet to answer why there's no vote if you really want to Jeopardize this subreddit for a cause. A fair vote should be there if we made this subreddit into what it is today. Be kind and open.

Edit 2: Still no answer from mods. Why wasn't there a vote? I hope you don't consider yourself to be the flag bearer. Downvote me all you want but there's already a subreddit easily eating up your audience.

Edit 3: Yet no answer from mods. Why there was no vote? Are you guys flagbearers of the community?

As you may have already seen most of Reddit has gone dark including r/GlobalOffensive. We, the mod team of r/GlobalOffensive have created this alternative Counter-Strike community here for people who want to continue discussing Counter-Strike, bypassing Reddit's shenanigans.

We can continue to operate here, and share more on our actions and developments with Reddit in the comming days. Please bear with us, while we try to get used to Kbin and the Fediverse.
