For context see The Pure Situation explained

A translation of https://www.huya.com/883235 by /u/kAliNeiD in this reddit post:

Chalice talked about drama behind Bali Major invidents involving Nouns and BB during his live broadcast at Huya https://www.huya.com/883235:

"The organizer has a clear bias and shifts the blame for banning Pure to AR.

  1. About Nouns: After the first game, Nouns' coach asked the organizer to inform them that they couldn't use the bug. Chalice was angry because Nouns had used the bug to get fy's first blood in the first game. So, in the second game, Chalice made a fake move to tease the opposing coach by using left-click selection (which doesn't trigger the bug). The opposing coach immediately reported it to the organizer, who ruled against them without verification. Later, Chalice asked the organizer to check it themselves, and the decision was revoked.
  2. About BB: AR told the organizer they wanted to play Tundra because they had studied Tundra all night. The organizer said the announcement had been made and couldn't be changed. AR was already angry with the organizer (after the Nouns incident) and wanted to embarrass them, so they told the organizer to follow the rules completely. As a result, the organizer banned Pure but shifted the blame to AR, telling BB it was all AR's request, even though AR's initial request was to let BB stay in the winner's group."

unfortunately am not going to ryiadh masters , my loan ended after the major and Quest org dont want to extend the loan for there own reasons , they offered me a contract that i dont agree on and they told me to choose between signing the contract or they will get a standin and i choose not to sign after all with all respect the only sad thing that i played with them the mena qualify and they choose to get a standin rather than extending the loan or choosing me as a standin for Riyadh masters anywayGL to all players
to be honest nigma did help with everything loan/buyout but quest contract is not acceptable for me

Quest's statement:

We'd like to explain recent events involving player Ammar Al Assaf (ATF), Nigma Galaxy, and us. Our mission has always been to build a team based on respect, hard work, and shared goals.

All parties agreed to a contract with ATF's loan ending after the Bali Major, including a planned buyout. We've stuck to this contract fully.

After our great results at Bali Major, it was disappointing when the others wanted to renegotiate the contract terms, a few days before Riyadh Masters. This is against our values, we had to say no

ATF asked for new terms after the Bali Major and wanted his loan to continue until after The International 2023. His condition to commit fully only if he participated in TI didn't match our team's values.

Our team's commitment goes beyond personal and financial gain - it's about the love for the game and shared success. Anyone who joins us must share this vision.

Our players - TA2000, NO!OB, OmaR, and Kaori - are among the best in the world. We believe in team strength and respect for all players because Dota is a team game.

Despite the unexpected events, we thank ATF and Nigma for their contributions. We respect ATF's decisions and wish him all the best.

We're excited to introduce our new offlaner soon. Thanks to our fans for your unwavering support. We remain committed to transparency, fairness, and support for our players. Can't wait for the Riyadh Masters - we're ready to bring our best.

Text of the second tweet in the chain (which is not exactly the same as what is said in the video):

In a few days, Team Liquid — and much of the esports world — will participate in #RiyadhMasters. Since last year, Saudi Arabia has increased its investments and aims to build itself into a hub for esports and is nearly unavoidable. Saudi Arabia’s laws and policies on women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, migrant workers, native tribes, and political speech do not line up with our values or the values of the majority of the esports community. While there has been some improvement in the country, more needs to be done.

We believe that Team Liquid has a responsibility to raise awareness and push for an esports community that welcomes all. We’re committing $50,000 USD to Rainbow Railroad, a charity that helps LGBTQ+ people all over the world escape life-threatening persecution, and $50,000 USD to initiatives and events that help women and LGBTQ+ people in esports. This is in addition to the $47,500 we’ve already donated last year.

We will also continue to work with ESL to guarantee the safety of our staff and players in the region. We hope the community will remain outspoken about these events and that other organizations will also help raise awareness.

We know this won’t please everyone, and we understand that the community will talk. That’s good. We believe that this is better than the silence that would come otherwise.

7.33e Gameplay Update (www.dota2.com)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Azzu@lemm.ee to c/dota2@lemmy.ml

From https://www.dota2.com/news/updates:

Over the last few days we've addressed several gameplay issues:

  • Kobolds that are dug up from Trusty Shovel are now ordered to follow their owner (same behavior as Juggernaut's Healing Ward)
  • Fix newly spawned enemy units in Fog of War flashing on the minimap for a frame before becoming hidden
  • Fix spells not being able to target invisible units that were revealed by a sentry ward
  • Fix an issue where the hero stats tooltip for Evasion was not correctly rounding to the nearest integer value
  • Fix Tormentor treating creep heroes as summons that should be killed instantly when no valid hero units are within range
  • Fix a bug in the treasure UI causing rarity text to be clipped when an item is hovered
  • Fix Lich Sinister Gaze duration ignoring status resistance
  • Fix Phantom Lancer's Phantom Rush toggling off after dying
  • Fix rare crash when Spirit Breaker's Charge of Darkness is interrupted
  • Fix Oracle's "Fate's Edict Magic Damage Prevented" relic to properly count all damage that is prevented with the spell
  • Fix hero relics not progressing in Turbo

Patch 7.34 will arrive in August before The International Regional Qualifiers start.

Dota 2 Short Film Contest (steamstore-a.akamaihd.net)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by vort3@lemmy.ml to c/dota2@lemmy.ml

The International is just a few months away, and we're pleased to announce that submissions are now open for this year's Dota 2 Short Film Contest. Filmmakers have until 3:00pm PDT on September 14, 2023 to submit their short film creations of 90 seconds or less to the Dota 2 Steam Workshop to be eligible for consideration.

Dota fans around the world are invited to visit the Workshop to discuss and vote on their favorites to help us select the best entries to be showcased as part of The International 2023 broadcast. Upon review of the Workshop ratings and discussions, Valve will nominate the top entries to be featured in the Dota client for a final voting process by the community to determine the winners.

Each finalist that reaches the top ten will be guaranteed to win $500, and the top three selections will score prizes of $25,000, $10,000, and $5,000 in recognition of their contributions to the Dota community.

Check out the Dota 2 Short Film Contest site for more information and guidelines on the submission process. And be sure to stop by the Workshop page regularly to help review the submissions you would like to see showcased at The International 2023, coming to you live from Seattle in October.

Team Aster personnel changes announcement

After the club's internal communication and friendly consultation with the players, Aster will make the following adjustments in the next DOTA2 tournament campaign:

Aster`s former Position 4 Boboka (Ye Zhibiao) temporarily left the team;

Kaka (Hu Liangzhi) will join Aster as the team's Position 4, we will grind together as soon as possible, only through trials and tribulations then can see the rainbow. Brothers go!

Thank you Boboka for your hard work and dedication. Parting away does not mean being a stranger, leaving also carries a lot of helplessness, and also thanks to the fans who have been supporting us.

Welcome KaKa to the Aster family kaka胡良智

However, according to several CN streamers who heard it from AR players, AR threatened to withdraw from the tournament if organisers didn't sanction Pure for stream-watching beyond just giving BB the default loss.

Then, BetBoom announced that they will play with Resolut1on until the end of the Major, who was there as a broadcast talent: betboom: until the end of the major we will play with resolution

Betboom's statement regarding this:

BetBoom Team would like to officially express their position regarding the recent situation that arose in the match against Tundra. We acknowledge that a short alt-tab from the game suddenly occurred during the match. We acknowledge the violation of the rules, but we are confident that there is no malicious intent on the part of Ivan "Pure ~" Moskalenko.

We want to emphasize that the incident could not have had a serious impact on the almost two-hour meeting - it happened at the ninth minute.

BetBoom Team do not agree with the severity of the punishment applied to our team. We have already sent a formal request to Valve and are awaiting a response. We rely on Valve to consider our request with due diligence and provide an unbiased solution. BetBoom Team is ready to work with The Bali Major organizers, Valve and all stakeholders to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again in the future.

While waiting for a response from Valve, Ivan "Pure~" Moskalenko will be temporarily replaced. BetBoom Team will be represented by Roman "Resolut1on" Fominok.

BetBoom Team hopes that the situation will be resolved fairly and taking into account all the circumstances.

At the start of Azure Ray vs Betboom, TORONTOTOKYO said this: why you guys force admins to disqualify Pure? U scared to play against our full roster? sad, I respected you

And just now, Azure Ray won against Betboom, eliminating them from the Major.

Wow. Just wow.
